Tell Me About..................................

Tell Me About..................................

The most creative, and unique bridal shower that you have ever attended (may have been your own) and enjoyed.

My sister/moh is getting married next year and I really want something a little different.

Thanks for sharing all of your ideas.

I guess I'd say the one I attended for one of my friends at Lady Anne's Tea Room in Levittown. It was really adorable, and we drank tea and wore hats.

I got nothing. Sorry.

Just go crazy with a theme. Then guests will be like 'what a cute CP, oh look it matches this, look at the decorations, oh look at that favor. Adorable!'

Oh, and lots of alcohol.

Re: Tell Me About..................................

My friend/bridesmaid's bridal shower last year was at Alice's Teacup in the city (I forget which location). Her mom & sis did everything, so I wasn't in on the planning, but it was really nice. Very feminine, definitely not a place for a co-ed shower -- my FH and the guys wouldn't think tea & tea sandwiches and scones are enough of a meal!

The decor is something right out of Lewis Caroll's novel, and each place setting on the table consisted of mismatched teacups, saucers, plates, etc. Very whimsical. I'd LOVE to have my shower here, but I could hear my mom & family in my head..... we're Italian and Jewish, so we LOVE to eat! And they'd all be thinking... 'where's the food??'

As for me, I LOVED the place!! They had many teapots on the tables with different flavored & herbal teas to sample, which of course, being a tea lover, I did. The sandwiches and scones were delicious. It felt like a little girl's tea party for grown-ups, something that you'd want to do when you were a kid, but couldn't. We were in a back room upstairs, had the room to ourselves, and I think it was about 3-4 hours. Not sure of pricing, but we did have a great time!

My MOH's shower was pretty cool...she was getting married 07-07-07....so we went with the lucky in love theme....we rented casino tables and everyone got to play casino games, and their money converted into tickets. Then with the tickets they could win prizes chinese auction style.

They kind of incorporated this into mine too...the theme of my shower was chrissy's favorite things. the prizes were all given out chinese auction style (and you could only win one prize so more people get prizes). THen for each game played you won tickets. So while they were waiting for me, they had them draw a picture of us on our wedding day/night (those were hysterical), and fill out a how well do you know chrissy game. It was a lot of fun!!

I agree with Jenn. Pick a theme and go crazy with it.

I always love when they do the candle poem at showers & then there is a funny cleaning poem too with Mr. Clean- I'll see if my bm has them and post them later.

Candle Poem:
A Basket of Candles
For [insert Bride's name]

A basket of candles that come in a pair
In all different colors, for you two to share
The white ones burn first
They are wrapped in white lace
To celebrate your first married night
In your new chosen place.
The green pair is taller, and also much thinner
Burn with the first company, you have over for dinner.
The dark blue candles are for after your first fight
Use them to burn while making up all night.
Pink candles set the mood and pave the way
For your first married Valentine’s Day.
Now, when your first year of marriage is through
The cream anniversary pair, will light for you two.
Red candles aflame, both your futures are bright
Celebrate promotions you’ve worked toward with all of your might.
By this time we hope, maybe, just maybe
You can light the purple ones, on the birth of your baby.
And just when you thought you’d put these away
Take the light blue ones out-for your fifth anniversary day.
Now just one more pair left - for the big 2 5
The anniversary pair that will keep your love alive.
Congratulations [insert Bride and Groom's names]
On the start of your forever
May the two of you always be happy together
And burn these candles
Just the way we said
But please don’t forget-blow them out before bed!

Mr. Clean poem- you fill a laundry basket with all the items listed and someone holds them up as another bridal party girl reads it- its very cute!

Dear Bride,

We gather together with you to celebrate the --1-- (dawn) of a new --2--
(era). Marriage is a journey. Some days it will be pure --3-- (joy) but
Let's take a moment and talk about the others.

There may come a time when you realize your big --4-- (brawny) guy isn't
Necessarily --5-- (Mr. Clean). When this and other little glitches
Occur, don't --6-- (shout) or send up an --7-- (SOS). Go --8-- (easy-on)
Him. Hopefully the --9-- (Tide) will change quickly, tensions will
--10-- (vanish), and things will --11-- (bounce) back to normal.

We think you and FH are a --12-- (fantastic) couple with a --13--(zest)
For life and a sincere appreciation for each other. We fully support you
As you and FH --14-- (pledge) to spend your lives as one.

We wish you all the best... Including love, happiness and lots of time to
--15-- (snuggle).

Love,
The Bridal Party

Some cute themes- one of my friends loved cruising & they were doing that for their honeymoon- so for the wishing well the bridal party bought her suitcases & the guests filled it with travel stuff

also one had a panty drawer theme that i loved- they wrote the girl's undie size in the invite & everyone brought undies for the wishing well... i looved it- but I didnt want my size written on the invite lol

I loved my shower. It was a Saturday night cocktail party. It was in my mom's backyard. They had a huge tent with beautiful centerpieces of flowers and fresh cut limes and lemons. There was drinks, including a margarita machine and a cotton candy machine, lol. It definetly was more of a party than a typical shower. Plus, everyone wound up staying late and just hanging out because it was a Saturday night.

KK Holiday. . .I was going to say the same thing!

We did a mexican themed shower for one of my BMs when she got married.

We got her a huge sombrero to staple the ribbons to, we made a pinata (sp?) wishing well and drank margaritas and sangria. Had it at a mexican restaurant. . .

You could totally take it way farther than that if you wanted. . .

I agree - take a theme and go crazy, they are way more fun that way!

Good luck!
