Honestly, it's a bit silly. You will be the spotlight on your wedding day, don't worry about that. People will still care about your upcoming wedding even though they're celebrating another engagement.

i went through something similar to this and i felt the same way..dont worryits normal people said i was being irrational but i just couldnt help it..bottom line there was nothing i could do so i just chose to not let it bother me and it passed..as much as it sux to have to suk it up it will eat at u if u dont and u have soo much to look foward to this year its not worth it..i hope this helps good luck

I really wouldn't get myself in a knot over this, it's only an engagement party, it has NOTHING to do with your wedding and will not take away ANYTHING from your day, they are two totally different events and no one is going to think anything of it. Just focus on your day!

a similar sitation ahppened to me... my friend was engaged for lke 4yrs she was geting married 6/08. i got engaged in 12/07 and my mom wanted me to have the eparty in may.
I told her no way, not so close to my firnds wedding. it was her time, so i did it in july. then it was after her wedding and it was all about me from that point on!!
but that is my opinion people dont tend to think of others. i just thought i was bbeing courteous.

I think your reaction is not out of the ordinary. Its okay to feel a little hurt. But then, like the girls are saying, you come to your senses. The e-party won't take away from your wedding and may actually get people more excited for your wedding. Also you don't know they might change their mind about the date. :)

I wouldnt worry, engagement party before your wedding wont change/ruin a thing. No one can ever take your thunder at your wedding.

Don't worry...people don't get as excited for an engagement party as they do for a wedding. You'll still be on everyone's mind. I would't take it to heart. If she was getting MARRIED then, oh boy... yes, then I would say something. But, don't fret it...

I think you'll be in the spotlight no matter what. I mean, it's just an E Party. YOU are having a WEDDING. Wedding def outweighs the E Party in the spotlight department.
