Ok FH's cousin has twin girls so of course we wanted to make them our FG's and I don't care about having twin FG's if anything I thought that it would be adorable. So, I left this decision up to the mom and she was so honored and excited and said that yes she would love to have both of them in it. Ok great! Today I found FG dresses and headpieces that I think I most likely want them to wear I just want to get them in the store to try it all on. The dresses are $116 each and the headpieces are $55 each but the lady said that she will definitely work alot with the prices. I thought that $116 was great and to hear that she is even going to take it lower had me sold! So I just spoke to FH and he says to me, well I'll pay for it all. I'm like but why? I'm sure the mom knows the deal I mean, is it possible that you don't know that your suppose to pay for your own dress if your in the bridal party? So I said well really in the end it'll b a little over 300 and that money could go towards something that we need to pay for. So he got all mad and said 'I'm not gonna have my cousin pay that much'. What the hell, honestly I don't think that $300 is bad for 2 FG's. So I said if that was the case and she thought that she couldn't do it don't you think that she would've only said that she was putting 1 of them in instead of both?? He just doesn't know how weddings work and doesn't get the fact that the bridal party pays for their own dresses.....am I wrong for arguing with him? I mean I don't wanna be cheap but seriously, it's not like his cousin was complaining this is all him.

Re: Tell me if I'm wrong....
did you say anything to his cousin yet? she might be totally ok with it... but honestly, jmo, i think $116 is a lot on top of $55 head piece... and thats double for her... so i can see why he would want to pay for it... maybe compromise and pay half!

Maybe you can offer to pay for half? Tell her you realize it's a lot of money and feel bad. She may just say you're crazy and not accept the money.

Re: Tell me if I'm wrong....
I dont think you're wrong. Usually the people in the BP pay for their own attire. However, I have seen on LIW that some brides have paid for the FG dresses as a courtesy. I myself am not paying for the FG dresses..but I think I might buy their headpieces.
Maybe the two of you could buy the headpieces and have the mother buy the dresses?

Re: Tell me if I'm wrong....
I'd probably just ask her to pay for the dresses and buy the headpieces myself. That is a little pricey for them to pay double of. But it's true, that's how weddings work.

Re: Tell me if I'm wrong....
mine were under $100. i am buying them their headpieces. but maybe i'm the one that's naive!!! then again my BM dresses were under $116. so my perspective may be screwed up.

oh ok, well they are tagged as $116 but the lady said that she is definitely going to lower the prices so thats why I didn't think it was bad.

Re: Tell me if I'm wrong....
I think its right to ask their mother to pay but I think thats a LOT of money for FG dresses...considering they are young girls and will likely only wear them once.

Re: Tell me if I'm wrong....
I would say the dresses yes, she probably expects that but the headpieces are kinda pricey... They're half the cost of the dress... maybe you can find something similar for less money.

JMO..I have a little girl and I would really think it was alot to pay $116 for a dress and then an additional $55 (like it was said they will probably only wear it once)
Maybe try to find it online for cheaper or ask how much they are willing to go down in price

Re: Tell me if I'm wrong....
It seems like a lot to me, especially since she has to buy two of them and it's a dress they'll wear once.
In my family a lot of the time the bride has paid for the FG dress, so I don't think FH is so far off. I think it can go either way.
I think it would be nice for you to compromise with Fh and say to the mom, 'I know it's really a lot to buy for 2 girls, so I will pay half.' That would be a nice gesture without breaking the bank.
I think it's a nice thing to do esp bc the dresses and headpieces are really on the expensive side.

Re: Tell me if I'm wrong....
While normally the cousin should pay for the dresses for her daughters, I think that's kind of a lot of $$ to ask her to pay for FGs. Maybe shop around a little bit more before you tell her the price.

I think its alot since she has two to pay for. I would offer to pay for half of the dresses and i would buy the headpeice myself. $55 seems like alot for a little girl.

Re: Tell me if I'm wrong....
I think it is on the higher side for FG dresses and then add the HP...really about the amount my BMs are paying for thier dresses. I know you really like the dresses and headpiece, but since you want her to pay, maybe ask if she is okay with the price or offer to pay half if she cannot do it. So I would ask her first. If she is ok with it....great. Just in case, maybe be open to another option. Burlington has really cute dresses for like $30 - $50. JMO.

Re: Tell me if I'm wrong....
seems like a lot to me. could you ask what the mom would feel comfortable paying? its nice if you paid but i dont think you have to get stuck paying the bill. She also has to buy 2 keep that in mind.

Re: Tell me if I'm wrong....
116 to me for an fg dress is on the higher side but nothing i would spit my drink out over lol, the ones i was looking at were that much..... but from what ive seen is that the ones people usually pick out are around 50ish
i would ditch the headpiece and get the dress only... you could always find heapieces cheaper somewhere else

Re: Tell me if I'm wrong....
That's so nice of you to include both of them. If she was happy and honored, I think that's your answer. If he still wants to pay for them.. maybe you could offer to speak with her about the price and say, I know that it may be expensive, but perhaps that could be your gift for us. (They will probably say nonsense anyways...) Good luck!!

Re: Tell me if I'm wrong....
Thanks girls, I'll definitely shop around a little more and see if I could find something cheaper that I still like. Othewise I'll offer to pay for half. Thanks!
