I'm newly engaged and new to this website. My fiance and I are looking at temples in Long Island that are glatt kosher. We've already seen Beth El, East Meadow Jewish Center, and are going to see Beth Sholom on Monday. Can anyone please give me reviews of those if you have? I would also love suggestions and reviews (good or bad) of other temples in Long Island. Thank you!!!!

Re: Temple Suggestions
Temple Avodah in Oceanside has always been wonderful to work with and attend parties. I'm not jewish, so I don't know if it's glatt kosher, but the food is REALLY good as is the service of the caterers.
We usually have math dinners there (I'm a math teachers so Nassau County Math Teachers Association always has their celebrations there). They are extremely accomodating and the temple has just been redone and is REALLY pretty!
Check it out!

Re: Temple Suggestions
I think I've read that Temple Avodah's catering is not kosher?
http://www.liweddings.com/chat/topic-298863-1.html 'You should know that Kombert Caterers is not a kosher catering company. Temple Avodah is a reform and rather liberal temple.'
I have recently looked at Temple Israel, Temple Beth-el and Great Neck Synagogue in Great Neck; Temple Hillel in Valley Stream; and HERJC in East Rockaway.
All of them have their pros and cons, obviously. I really like the open feeling at Beth El, especially for my spring wedding. The ballroom in Temple Israel in Great Neck is incredible, though I think the sanctuary is a little plain. GNS has a grand ballroom as well. Temple Hillel has a really cute cocktail room. HERJC has a nice outdoor patio though the ballroom is smaller.
Anyways, FM me if you want some more specific information.

Re: Temple Suggestions
Ive had a few friends and been to quite a few weddings at OJC, Oceanside Jewish center. Food was great and Rob was so helpful with all the planning. Avodah does a great reception but not sure about Glatt Kosher

Re: Temple Suggestions
Thank you all for the suggestions! I would love more info on Beth El (which my fiance is leaning towards) and East Meadow Jewish Center (which I'm leaning towards). They both have 2012 dates available. Avodah looks beautiful but unfortunately they are not glatt kosher. There's a whole scandal going on with Morell caterers which eliminates Temple Israel and Woodbury Jewish Center. Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Re: Temple Suggestions
I also went with a temple wedding. Check out Temple Israel of Great Neck (Lederman caterer) the food is glatt kosher. I went for my food tasting and the food is great. It was just remodeled and it’s the most modern out of all the temples.
