So I've pretty much picked out the tent I want: something like:
The ceiling is perfect, I'm skipping the tacky chandeliers. But I'm just confused as to what to do with the floor.
1) pictured is black astro-turf, taped with black tape, and a 'wood' dance floor. not cheap, but I can afford it
2) black astro-turf and white 'marble' dance floor, same as option 1.
3) 'wood' floor everywhere and skip the dance floor. The color is a little too dark for my taste. $5000 more than option 1.
4) Real whitewashed wood parquet floor throughout, OMG I LOVE IT! $10,000 more than option 1.
5) nature: grass, bugs, mud and what have you. Now comes free and for a limited time cranky old people that will say 'why didn't you just do it in the catering hall' And I can't wear my spiky shoes, huge bummer.
I skipped the carpet options, because I just don't like carpet. To me it always seems moldy and smelly. Astro-turf is plastic so I think I'm more comfortable with the astro turf, but I'm not loving it.
My chairs table cloths and linens will all be white, I might add a light apple green overlay to the table cloth.
The cps will be tall flowers with bright colors (lime/mango/fuschia)

I'm a little sick of people telling me how beautiful it is when its such a pain in my $&%@# to get everything together.
But yes, thank you, it is what I like, and I couldn't do a wedding where I didn't like the way the walls looked, or the way the ceiling looked, or the way the hall smelled, or the tacky chairs from 1984. So opted for something simple but not simple.
And thats just the tent, but the place is just a big huge open field in the middle of a Vineyard.
What about the floor

Aww, I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that.
Its just I'm stressed. I'm just having a hard time with everything I wanted to do, and at the beginning it was all beautiful, but then price tags and horrid vendors are added to that and it just gets ugly.

I chose option one... I think grass would be a PITA to deal with but really, who is asthetically looking at your floor. I would spend the money somewhere people would remember it if I were you and had it to spend. Can you honestly remember the floor of any wedding you've ever been to? Good luck!

Don't worry! I know a wedding at a vineyard you have to organize a lot yourself and then you are also talking about a tent wedding. Maybe try to have a wedding planner.

The tent is gorgeous, but I totally get where you're coming from--it's definitely a ton of work to bring in everything! I definitely wouldn't want grass, but the turf kind of turns me off....but, I like how the dance floor is differentiated there, which it sounds like it wouldn't be otherwise. SO, I would go with option 1! HTH!

I did! I hired a full service planner, she wasn't really in tune with what I wanted and didn't understand what I was trying to do. So I figured the best person, is me...
I will have a day of planner though, found one that is also a florist, perrrrfect!

I have been circling this thought against the 'omg that wood floor was gorgeous' all day after meeting with tent people...
I hate weddings I never go when I'm invited
But the ones that I was dragged by life and limb to, had ugly catering hall carpet, and yes I remeber it because I have a strange phobia for carpet.

my vote... #4 if it's in the budget.. but realistically #1 is fine. I'm sure most people would appreciate having something other than grass and dirt under their chairs.

I am helping a friend plan an outside wedding (parents backyard) and I give you A LOT of credit! It is hard f-ing work but in the end, it will be everything you've ever dreamed of! Good luck!

i had grass & a dance floor for my tent wedding & got no 'grass' complaints...haha..not even from my Dad who complains about everything! I did note in the invitations that we'd be on grass & heels were not recommended....here's a pic showing the grass/dance floor..not sure if this helps you.
My friends had a tent for their wedding last year and just had a wooden dance floor - they left the rest of the tent as grass and it was fine.
