Tenure? question, please help

Ladies,

Is tenure in all districts after 3 years?

I am a future teacher and trying to plan my life.... Also, if you go out on maternity leave for the allotted 6 weeks but want to take a Leave of Absence until the end of the year, do they hold a spot for you or is it like starting from scratch (if you dont have tenure)?

NYS is 3 years... unless you had tenure at another district, in which case it is 3... if you take your 6 weeks, then the rest of the year, and dont have tenure it is up to the district with what they will about holding your spot... every district is different in the respect... it also has to do with your discipline and seniority as welll... once you go on a leave your senority gets frozen...
