So today, my grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, and I went to my scheduled appointment at Bergdorf's in NYC. I had been anxious to go since everyone told me that the service and selection can't be beat. Well everyone was terribly wrong.
All I want is a strapless dress with a ball gown skirt. Lots of crystals would be a plus. We don't have a bugdet.
The b-i-t-c-h of a salesperson named Beth told me that they had TWO dresses that fit this description. Now how on earth is that possible? When asked if there were other styles that she thought might look good on my body shape, she replied 'no.' In regular clothes, I wear a 6 typically. My bra is a 34-DD which is a little strange, but I am far from having a difficult shape for which to find a dress. How could there be NO dresses in the entire store?
I am so incredibly irritated. After leaving the bridal area, I even began to cry (which I am embarrassed to admit). I was just so frustrated.
We ended up getting into Reem Acra's salon. I tried on a ton of dresses there. None were the 'one,' but at least I got a selection. And the salesperson was incredibly helpful. My mother actually found two GORGEOUS MOB dresses which hopefully she will select.
Thanks for letting me vent. But I warn you about wasting a day at Bergdorf's.

Re: Terrible Dress Experience
I'm sorry you had a terrible experience at Bergdorf, especially after you had high recomendations. Dress shopping is always an experience, both positive and negative. Don't let them get you down - your dress is out there and you will find it!

Re: Terrible Dress Experience
I am a petite 8/10 and I am a 32DD not too far from your size- just FYI, stores I went to that had great samples for me were Saks and Priscilla of Boston. Both had tons of strapless with ball gown skirts. Good luck! Feel free to FM me if you have questions.

Re: Terrible Dress Experience
why are some people snooty in some nicer stores?
I think it s jealousy that you can shop there & they only work there

Re: Terrible Dress Experience
The Wedding Salon of Manhasset has many strapless ball gown types. Not a huge # of dresses overall, but they are 99% strapless....And everyone there was very friendly.
