Terrible florist appointment!!

Terrible florist appointment!!

Ok....this is my first somewhat bash of a vendor. I met with the owner of United Floral in Great Neck today and I was so unhappy!! I really felt like it was a waste of my time for two reasons:

1) I kept telling him I'd want fall colors (i.e. reds, oranges etc.) he told me that he didn't think those colors would go well together and he kept trying to push me onto cream colors, and greens.....I just really felt like he wasn't listening to what I was saying.

2) We finally get to some pricing, and he tells me its $250 for each high centerpiece (with a minimal candlebra- not something crazy fancy), so I told him that's above what I wanted to spend. He asked me what my budget was and I said $125 each high centerpiece and I stated 2 other florists were able to accomodate my budget....so he says, well I can't imagine what your centerpieces would look like for $125!!! I couldn't believe he said that, it was so snooty, I was fumed!

He then proceeds to tell me sorry for wasting your time, and then I left!!! He didn't even give me a formal quote, didn't bother pricing the bo-k's or anything else, all b/c I said the $250 was out of my budget, it was basically like, ok, well there's the door.

After meeting with him, it made me feel so much better about my meeting w/ John at Flower Michelle- at least he seemed to be really accomodating.

Just wanted to give you ladies a heads up that this guy was not very negotiable!!! Thanks for letting me vent!!!

I also had a bad experience with them...I asked about a heart shaped bouquet and he said he never did one. He kept telling me to do a teardrop but I kept telling him it was a valentine wedding and I really wanted the heart shaped. Then I asked for True red roses and they kept insisting for me to get the black magic! Anyway, I went to Flowers Michele after that and then Flowers by brian. We ended up booking with Flowers by Brian because they seemed to give a better deal to us. Both Brian and Flowers Michele do beautiful work. Check them out.

I had a bad experience with them as well. He kept knocking what I said I liked and kept saying things were expensive and I would be stupid for doing certain things. I neve got a quote either. It was very poor service.

I always do a search of vendors to see what the girls have said. Sorry you wasted your time. I hear only great things about Flower Michele, Flowers by Brian, and Pedestals. I'm partial to Pedestals bc that's who i'm using. Don't worry...it's always nice to take time to smell the flowers!!!

I'm so glad to have found this post!!

They've been calling me like 3 times and leaving really rude messages. They ask that I call back and just tell them either I want an appointment or that I found someone else so they would stop calling me. What kind of policy is that? If I don't respond to the call for 3 times, take a hint and not waste my time to have to speak with them if I'm not interested!

I'm so glad I didn't bother to even set up an appointment! They are horrible!

Hello!!! Another Douglaston bride.....woooohooooo!!!!!!!!! That's probably why they were calling you....they told me they were the house florist for Douglaston Manor. But the guy I met with also said they were the house florist for Leonard's of Great Neck. Well, my best friend is getting married there, so I told her not to waste her time with this guy- so then she checks out the vendor list Leonard's gave her and United Floral isn't even on it!!! So he's either a liar or Leonard's doesn't even want to recommend him lol!!!

Well I'm glad I could save you the trouble of going to meet with them!!

Wow, sounds like a horrible experience. I dont think someone like that will be in business much longer, especially with LIW girls exposing the weazles!

Thanks Helen,

This is helpful no matter where you go. I hate it when they don't listen to you. Believe me those colors go together too. It doesn't seem like he really knows what he was doing.

Hope you find someone soon. Its frustrating to find something you love, but in your budget too.
