So I just went to pick up my gown at Princess Bridals, not only did they raise the price they originally quoted me (and after I put down a deposit) but they just charged me a ton of money for alterations- clearly they don't care about a bride's happiness, just money in their own pocket- I would reccomend going to Burtons.
After telling me I was 'deceivingly slim' (meaning I'm actually heavier then I look) during my first measurements-and leaving my first deposit, I was called and told that they had to raise the original price they quoted me. I negotiated with 'Florence' to not charge for my hem, and n the end, she just over charged me for all the other alterations. I had words with her in the in the sotre just now and finally had to tell her that all she cares about is money. I wasn't lying when I said that.
Something that should have been exciting became extrodinarily unpleasant. Don't go to Princess Bridals.

Wait a minute, when you left the deposit, didn't you sign a contract??? If so, then they have no right to charge you more than what you agreed to. And if not, then lesson learned, ALWAYS get things in writing!!!!

Re: Terrible Treatment at a bridal store
Teh dress is really nice- I 'shopped around' at a couple of different bridal stores, but they offered me the lowest quote- they told me they would return my deposit, but that was 3 months before my wedding (which is next week)- I actually only signed up to make sure other people know how bad this place actually is!

I have heard horrible stories from friends about that place. I would never step foot in princess bridal.

Re: Terrible Treatment at a bridal store
I usually don't like to bad mouth vendors, but they are horrible. When I first got engaged I went there to look at dresses and the help is sitting at the desk talking to each other. I was ignored. Sorry about your negative experience there.

Yeah i was about to ask the same thing...If they told you a price and ESPECIALLY if you put a deposit based on the price you were previous given then they CAN'T turn around and change the price.
Did you happen to have a contract, a receipt or something that stated the previous price you were given?

Re: Terrible Treatment at a bridal store
I went there too and the owner (and I guess it's her son) were flat out fighting with a bridal party. The owners were claiming that one girl who wasn't there didn't pay for the alterations. The poor mother had to pay for the alterations again because the wedding was in two days. Then, they were rude to me!

Re: Terrible Treatment at a bridal store
I tried on dresses at that store- the woman made me feel like I was being cheap because of my budget (which wasn't that bad!) Its cramped and uncomfortable, they cut the tags out of dresses and the lady walked in on me without knocking when I was getting dressed...needless to say i didn't go back.
I don't think I've read very many positive reviews about this store...
PS- the only reason I went there in the first place was because they told me over the phone that they had a sample of a dress I was interested in. They didn't. When I got there they said 'Well, we don't catalog our dresses so we can't check for an exact dress, but I'm sure we have something similar.' NOT EVEN CLOSE!

Re: Terrible Treatment at a bridal store
I'm so upset right now! I'm the mother of the bride & ordered my gown from Princess Bridals. It should be in any day now. I went in the first time with my daughter. They were very helpful. I found a gown we both loved and came back a few days later with my daughter and my husband. We decided 'this was it' and I ordered it. After reading the things you girls wrote, I'm praying I don't have any problems with them.

Re: Terrible Treatment at a bridal store
i actually ordered my dress from there... the girls that helped me were sooo sweet, and i actually was able to change my order with them... i ordered my original dress in November 2006 and Feb 2007 they let me change my order and didnt charge any rush fees or anything... i did however go there with my bm's and they were not happy with the customer service plus the day we went they were under staffed..... but all in all they have been really good with me.... and when i left a deposit i had to sign something and they have a cap on alterations....
