Not fair! Didn't the appeal deadline pass already?
A few days ago didn't she say she was going to stop fighting against this?

I would think that after 2 weeks without food/water that damage would be irreversible anyway. I think her parents have gone past the point of devotion - now it just looks like they just want to prove a point.

Very sad for all involved - especially Terri.

i actually agree that it's time to let her go

i'm not gonna rehash yesterday's debate

all i'll say is

whether you agree or not, the decision was made and these legal wranglings need to stop so she can die in peace

That's what I was thinking!!
I agree with letting her go at this point...

And even in death, I'm sure there will be repurcussions.

Whatever your stand, I think it's fair to say that this woman is being tortured.

Again I agree with you Don...LOL.

It's time for her to die in peace. That is God's will. He should be her guardian now and take her into heaven.

This was touched upon yesterday how it has made some of us ask and tell our parents/SO what we would want...
Last night I asked FH what he would want and he said he would want to be left alone and I agreed.
Is anyone else afraid that god forbid you were in this position that they would 'pull the plug' and the next day doctors would have a cure?

Now this is just a personal reflection, I have not followed the Terry story at all...

It does give you a lot to think about.

No i am not afraid...most of the time if there is experimental stuff going on then it would have been used...There isn't a cure in this case and they are no where near it.

So i would fear more being in that body, my soul trapped here for decades upon decades...that would scare me much more!

Re: Terry Shiavo's parents file NEW appeal

There reaches a point where people just don't bounce back and get better. If they were to reinsert the tube at this point, her body and brain will have suffered irreversible damage simply because of the water deprivation.

Trust me, even when someone is fed via feeding tube, there aren't enough nutrients to sustain perfect health. My father has a 24 hour feeding tube that administers 2000 calories a day. They also inject water into the tube for hydration but he still has plenty of skin breakdown. He is incapable of movement and has to be moved every two hours to ease the pain of his sores. Last year at this time, he weighed 185 pounds at 5 ft 10. Now he weighs about 135 after 6 months in the hospital. It is estimated from the scale they use to weigh people from their beds in hospitals.

At this point it would be best for Terry's family to let go. They are prolonging her death, not saving her life. Had my mother allowed a DNR, my father would be in peace. Instead he suffers as do the rest of us.
