Yes, I realize this is a much discussed subject, but now it’s in federal courts (Florida) and I have a problem with that. If my husband is trying to let me die after 15 years of being on a tube, and I told him yes and my parents have no documented proof otherwise, then I’d be ticked that this is even getting to court.
It sets a horrible precedent.
I mean do you (any of you) right now think you’ll ever be on a tube for 15 years? She was so young when it happened. I seriously doubt she realized this was going to happen to her and told her parents “Hey Mom, Dad, if I ever get stuck on a tube, let me live forever and ever, ok?”
Although I feel for the parents who are losing a child. But to keep her alive, I think is sick. Still those are my opinions on her.
The opinion of allowing a COURT to decide family choices?!?!?!?!? What’s next pro-choice?
This is wrong, just my thoughts.. yours?

Re: Terry (the lady in Florida) Tube or no Tube?
sorry. this is a repost, but i put it on the wrong thread before.
had this conversation with my father last night, and it brought him to tears. My Dad doesn't cry.
My point was that Terry has suffered enough, and she will not even be able to process the fact that she no longer has a feeding tube - they should let her go naturally.
My Dad's point was that he saw Terry's father on the news. That man SWEARS that his daughter can hear him, and that she knows he is there. My Dad said he could NEVER EVER EVER give up on a child - even if all the medical knowledge proves she is a vegetable. As long as her father 'feels' she is with him, he can't let her starve to death. Tears were flowing down my father's cheeks as he said this.
I was surprised to learn that my dad and I had different perspectives on this, because we are usually 100% in agreement on issues like this. Maybe things will change when I become a parent.

i watched and heard the video of her father talking to terry...it is sad. They are holding onto moaning they feel is responses to her fathers questions..He is asking her..did someone hurt you? and crap like that...They want to prove somehow that her DH did this to her and it is simply false...Sad what desperate people will grab on too.
AND it is sad that your dad thinks that way but THANK GOD has never had to be in that position! I personally would let my child go

I have to say I wouldnt want to live like that. But I feel bad for the parents. Why doesnt her husband just turn over his guardianship to the parents? It is not like she is on respirators.
because then he doesn't get to keep what's left of her 1.3 million dollar medical malpractice lawsuit money.
I am troubled by the fact that Terri was in this state since 1990. In 1992, her husband testified at the malpractice lawsuit that he wanted money so that he could care for his wife for the rest of her life.
Once she (HE) won the money, he ordered that all care for her be stopped (no physical therapy, not too many visitors allowed, no TEETH BRUSHING).
Suddenly, in 1998, after he had a child with another woman, he remembered that Terri said she didn't want to be kept alive on life support. Of course, if he divorces her, he doesn't get any money. If she dies while they are still married, he officially inherets her lawsuit money to spend as he wishes- not just on her medical care and legal fees.
IMO, this is not someone who should be making decisions for her.
I totally agree this is a huge issue I have also heard that Terry hasn't had an MRI done on her since 1992- so they really have no new information about her condition.

IMO...regardles of what the husbands motives are..in the end..this woman needs to be let go of.. she will not be getting any better... So if he has the money or not..who cares..my concern is for Terry and the state that she exists
