What is the difference between addressing outer envelopes and addressing outer AND inner envelopes? Im so confused..... I know outer means that it is the address of where the invitation is going.... but what is the inner one? I feel like Im an idiot for not knowing this lol

Re: Tessa Brides?? Envelopes?
the inner one is for them to return the RSVP back to you, so it should be addressed to you, be stamped, and have their names on it... as far as I understand..
this invite crap has my head spinning too, I think I am a loon for planning to DIY this.

Re: Tessa Brides?? Envelopes?
TECHNICALLY outer envelope is the one that actually goes through the mail, and inner envelope is what the invitation goes in...kind of like a second skin to protect it. I only found this out last week lol, I thought it meant the RSVP envelope too. I thought Tessa didn't do inner and outers though...hmm.
I'm just bent now because I realized the envelopes don't include liners, and I'm already SO over budget it's not even funny, that I'm not going to be able to get them

I emailed her like 4 hrs ago and havent received anything- Im just really nervous right now bc Im just so confused.... inner isnt the RSVP one?? Ohhhh boy!!!
Also, Ali.... Tessa's dont include liners?? What the hell is that??? OMGGGG I cant breathe..... losing air......

BREATHE....BREATHE....TAKE DEEP BREATHS...
I would wait until she emails you back before freaking...it's possible that she just calls it the way that we assumed it to be, inner is rsvp. I just know that TECHNICALLY that's not what an inner envelope is, but that just may be what she calls them.
You can get liners...but I think it's $.30 per for them, it's definitely not included in the base price.

Same here about the liners. I was upset when I learned the envelopes didn't include liners and I just don't want to pay extra for them now.

Are liners important to have? Will people really notice? I feel like Im spending a decent amount of money on the invites, personalized response cards, and envelopes that are addressed...... I dont even know how much all of this is going to cost. I am really starting to stress out Now, I am missing liners.... its a bit disappointing

Re: Tessa Brides?? Envelopes?
Tessa's inner envelopes are the kind that you would write 'Ms. Smith & Guest' on - as opposed to the outer envelope that just says 'Ms. Smith Address, etc'. The RSVP card is totally different. A lot of the Tessa clients don't do inner envelopes because it's already a pocketfold and kind of self-contained, but I had no other way to communicate the '& Guest' info because i didn't do custom Response cards, so I got them. Re: Tessa Brides?? Envelopes?
Outer envelopes are for the names and addresses, inner envelopes are the names of who exactly is invited.
The most important use is it lists exactly who is invited. For example if you have someone with a guest the outer envelope is addressed just to them, the inner envelope is where you write 'and guest.' If you are inviting a whole family the outer envelope is addressed to the parents, while the inner envelope lists all the names of the invited. By the way the background to inner envelopes was that in the old days of horseback postal services and outer envelope would get filthy, so the inner envelope protected the invitation so that it arrived looking nice.

So, if I am having personalized response cards....can I do without the inner envelope? What do you ladies think?

Oh my gosh I'm so confused
So if people don't go the formal route with a 3rd envelope then what do they send the rsvps back in?

I think you can skip them...I'm doing personalized response cards, and I'm going to make sure that mine doesn't have an inner envelope, it's a pocketfold anyways so good enough.

There's an evelope for response cards...the inner envelope is the 'third' envelope, because it's optional.

Wow - there are two more people ahead of me on Tessa's list so I haven't even started the process. I had not idea it would be this complicated!! Are any of you ladies who are using Tessa using someone else like Inkspun to do your actually addressing? I haven't compared prices but I'm petrified of what I'll be quoted for invites!!!

Im on the proof list and I still dont know what the price of my invites are going to be. I am at the point of ripping my hair out lol Id have to say that this process is painful.... when I get my invites, I will then state whether it is all worth it- so far it looks like it will be worth it hahaa
