so i have been afraid to go to the doctor for MANY years now... but i finally went about 2 weeks ago. i went back this morning to get my results, and found out that i DO NOT have diabetties like i thought i did... my cholestorol is normal (however i need to improve my 'good cholesterol')... and my blood pressure is ok.
however, i do have a low thyroid thingy, and i will be taking a 6 weeks prescription to help it. i was told that this may explain why i am so big. i am hoping that this prescription will help me with some weight loss!!!
i'm so excited about this news. i just had to share!!!

Re: thank god!!!
This is weird that you should post this.
after YEARS of nagging FH to get his hiney to the doc, (he has not had ANY blood work since 1998 )... He FINALLY has an appointment scheduled for the 15th of may, but I am a bundle of nerves!!!
I'm hoping his results are good too!!
And good job going to the doc.

Did the doctor tell you that you have hypothyroidism? Meaning your thyroid is sluggish. Are you taking synthroid?
The reason I ask is that I have that and once you go on thyroid meds, you usually are on that for life. They may be giving you a 6 week prescription to see at what level of the prescription you need. That is what I did when I was first diagnosed.

Yay! Congrats! I SO hate the doctor...I haven't gone to my regular doctor in YEARS. I only go to the gynecologist once a year...doctors are scary!

Re: thank god!!!
glad you are ok!!! please don't forget that 'thyroid thingy ever!!' it is very important for you to take medication! my aunt suffers from that and had just found out she has a lump in her throat and its cancerous!! be careful!

thats what i said. my mother had half her thyroid removed and has been on pills since about 1990...only last year did they take her off for some medical reasons and all of a sudden she dropped major weight.
