it's all new now, and I think you're probably worried about telling your son later.
It will pass. It's terribly sad and I'm sure takes up all your thoughts right now, but it's true. Time does heal all wounds.

it will pass!!
You've been through a tremendously rough couple of days! Let yourself heal and do whatever feels right for you!
If you want to sit home all day for the next few days in your PJs with dirty hair...do it!
I wish I could give you a big hug through this computer!
We're all here for you!

Re: Is this normal?
It is totally normal to feel this way. Even though you were no longer together, this man played an important role in your life and you have to deal with explaining this to your son. Take some time to let it all settle. The wedding plans can continue when you are ready.

Re: Is this normal?
honestly, it probably is normal. Just because someone isn't the man you love now, doesn't remove the fact that at one time, he was...and you have the added heartache of him being the father of your child.
Don't try and minimize the loss, or question your grieving...this is a HUGE thing to have happened, and honestly- I think I would be more concerned if you weren't feeling the way you do, you know?

Re: Is this normal?
Everything you are describing is perfectly normal. You are grieving!!! It doesn't matter how long you have been divorced, you were at one point in time in love with him, and a part of you will always love him. Plus, you have a beautiful reminder of that love in your son. This will pass, but it will take time, this is VERY recent. The greiving process is different for everyone. I would recommend seeing a therapist, even for just a few sessions, to help you AND your son through this process.

I dont think you have to worry about anything being normal right now. Grieve the way you need to grieve...there is nothing wrong with that. We're all here for you!

Re: Is this normal?
you are a caring person, yes this is normal He is the father of your son, and at one time the person you were inlove with.
give yourself some time to grieve his passing.
You may feel underlying guilt for preparing for your happy day, when you know so many are grieving his loss (and your grieving too)
time heals , give yourself time

Re: Is this normal?
Sounds corny but time does heal. It has nothing to do with you be divorced from him for 4 years....don't doubt your love for your FH . But you and your Ex-H share something very special ...your son. And maybe you are depressed and hurting for your son. Try to stay positive for him

Everyone grieve's differently. This is perfectly normal. One peice of advice, don;t be afraid to cry in front of your son. he needs to know it's okay to be upset right now. Stay strong when you need to and lose your cool when you don't! Hang in there, Chidlren are extremely resiliant and he will probably teach a thing or two about how to get through this.

ITA..Your feelings are only your own. Each person reacts differently to grief. Just give yourself some time to heal. You and your son are in my prayers. I am so sorry that you have to go through this
