I have to do the dreaded task of thank you cards and am reading that proper etiquette is to personally write your thank you card which should be handwritten and include the specific gift. However with almost 400 guest I think it will be close to impossible to do this (unless I work on them for a year). If you got a printed thank you card that wasn't personalized to you would you be insulted? Do you think I should actually write them out?

Re: Thank you card help
Yeah, I feel like they should be hand-written. 400 guests would mean about 200 ty's. If most people give $$ then 'your (very) generous gift' should suffice.

Re: Thank you card help
My cousin sent out a general thank you card that had a printed saying on it. I thought it was different and really pretty and didn't think anything of the fact that it wasn't hand written. but my mom did make a point to tell me that she thought it was weird not to have a personal thank you. sometimes you just have to start a new tradition!

I know it stinks, but I think they should probably be handwritten. I think I'd be insulted if I received one of those preprinted ones. Maybe DH can help? I havent been able to get my FH to write thank yous, but maybe you'd have better luck than I.

Re: Thank you card help
If I got a generic ty card i would be offended. i realize it's a daunting task but ettiquette says you have a year to get them out. Make a plan to do so many in a weekend and you can potentially get them done in a month!

Take the time to personalize them. Just come up with a system: If u have each gift written down with who it was from and have the addresses ready. You can do a good amount each night. Maybe u can ask your BP for help also.

I think you should handwrite them out also. IMHO
A few months ago I received a preprinted Thank you (they said b/c their handwriting was bad) from a friends wedding and I must admit i was a little shocked.

I think the ty cards should be handwritten. But whose says you cannot get a card with pre-printed information on it and you can just add a line or two to personalize each one. That can alleviate some of the pressure of writing a full card for each person.

Definitely handwritten I know, not what you wanted to hear.
But what I've heard a lot of couples do is DH writes out the TY's to his guests and you do yours. Some even turn it into a nice evening of pizza and beer - invite both your parents' over and they can help!

I agree that they should be hand written , your hand will be hurt but your guests will appreciate it
