Thank You Card Oopsie

Thank You Card Oopsie

I think the stress is getting to me, because this is SO not like me at all, queen of the spreadsheets that I am. A couple of weeks ago we received a check with a no RSVP. It was from FMIL's cousin, wife, and family in SC so an expected no. They had wrote a note on the card that they were sorry they couldn't attend, they had family illness, etc.

So the check was made out to FH's name, because it's his relative, naturally. I didn't give FH the check, because he has a really bad habit of not cashing them, just puts them in a drawer, forgets he has them, then finds then 6 months and 1 day later when the bank won't cash them anymore...he screwed us out of an engagement gift that way. So I didn't give him the check until I knew I could supervise him cashing it. I know that sounds horrible and shrew-ish, but fool me once...

So anyways, normally I would send a thank you card immediately after receiving a gift in the mail, because I don't intend on sending out the photo thank yous to guests who said no but sent a gift with their RSVP (all whopping two of them lol). But for some reason, I didn't add a 'thank you sent' column in my spreadsheet, and I cannot remember for the life of me if I sent one! Part of me says I must have, because it's not like me to not send it immediately, but the other part of me wonders if I didn't because the check wasn't cashed yet, or I was waiting for FH to be around to sign it? I legitimately cannot remember if I sent a card.

So what would you do? I'm in a damned if I do, damned if I don't situation...if I don't send another(???) card, I look ungrateful. If I do send it, and I actually had sent one a few weeks ago, I look like an idiot!

I'm kinda leaning towards sending them a photo card afterwards with the generic we wish you would have been here to celebrate our day blah blah blah...does this seem like the safest bet so I don't look like a moron?

why dont you or your mil call and ask if they received it? make up some excuse like you thought you might have put the wrong amount of postage on it and wanted to make sure it got to them

I'd send the photo thank you. Don't stress over it - it happens.

I'd send a photo thank you, like everyone is suggesting. I did that with a lot of people anyway (only one of whom I wasn't sure if I had sent a TY at all) and just said 'we are so sorry you couldn't be there, but hope you enjoy the pictures from our special day.' It's all good.

send another card... its better having sent 2 than none at all! just say you apologize if you've sent one already, but if not, i'd like to thank you blah blah blah

def send another card or ask. . bc it's better to look flaky by sending twice than ungrateful by not sending. . I agree that you can say something like you had some come back bc of postage issues and you want to make sure they got yours. .. they will probably feel good you bothered to check. .

i sent another card to one person, because I forgot if I send her one, and I really just let her know that with all the wedding planning craziness, I forgot if I sent her one, and hey, if it were me, 2 thank you cards are better than zero!
