thank you card opinion?

thank you card opinion?

so my Fh and i received a beautiful thank you card from his cousin- the photographer made a gorgeous card for them with pics from the wedding, but there was a pre-typed message inside.. my FH's family went nuts over it and said how tacky it was that it wasn't a handwritten note. Since then, we have received a few other cards similar to theirs, but I wanted to know what your opinions were on this... I'm thinking i should order ones that leaves space for me to hand write a personal note to each guest

Definitely hand write a note!! FH's family is right, it is tacky. The people coming to any wedding have taken time (and money) out of their lives to celebrate with you on your day. The least a bride can do is hand write a quick thank you note. Its an arduous task, I know, but a little tact goes a long way.

I think you can print a super general sentence or two or quote with your signatures at the bottom, but in addition to that I think its important you hand write the rest of the card to make it more personal.

I think pre-printing a quick thank you or the signature is a good idea, but def add a personal note as you write them out.

I would prefer to receive a handwritten note and therefore, will also be handwriting all of my thank yous. While it is a lot of work it is a nice personal touch to make people feel appreciated. And, after all of the work we've done for our wedding it seems worth it.

this! I dont think there is anything more rude then a thank you that has no personalization

Hand written. It shows how appreciative you were for the gift and that you took the time to let your guests know.

I agree with above, select an option that allows for a handwritten note.

okay glad everyone is in agreement on this lol- All i've been getting are these pre-typed ones so i thought that was like the new thing to do.. think i'm going to keep it more traditional though- I know everyone would appreciate a handwritten card

This! Write them out. I actually had a photographer look at me like I had 5 heads at a meeting because I told her I wanted to write my own thank yous and I was like 'well.. I'm not rude, sorry.' She probably then thought I was rude lol

Not to break the trend but I always see the general wedding thank you. I have hand written beautiful heartfelt notes for my engagement gifts, my bridal shower, and I intend on showing my close family how thankful I am at my rehearsal dinner. But I really did not intend on personalizing 100 thank yous...I just think whether it is hand written or typed 'thank you for being there for our special day. Your generous gift was absolutely beautiful and will help us as we become a family' sounds the same. I mean realistically, no matter what the gift is, you are really thanking them for being there...and I have already run out of original ways to say that after my shower thank yous haha. I think I will add in additional hand written comments on my FH aunt who traveled from CA, my grandma who bought my dress, etc. But its going to be a generic message for all 15 of my mom's work friends.
