My engagement party was a little less than a month ago. Should I wait another month until I have personalized thank you notes (i.e w/ FH's and my name) or just send regular ones?

Re: thank you cards
I feel terrible but I haven't sent out thank you cards for my shower yet, which was Jan 27th! I ordered cute shower themed return address labels and I'm still waiting to receive them! The envelopes are all addressed, stamped and ready to go! I hope people aren't p issed...

It's really up to you, if you feel bad or not. In my opinion, I would wait. I didn't have a party, but we started receiving gifts about a week or so after we were engaged and I waited to send thank yous until I got our personalized notes. So if people have to wait a little bit, as long as they get one, it's ok. If they're smart, they'll realize you were waiting for a special note card to send them. I know I would!

I would send them sooner rather than later...it's an engagement party rather than a wedding, so I think you should hurry up the thank you notes..just my opinion though!

Re: thank you cards
I'd send them ASAP. We had a lot of gifts sent to us since we are OOT and I made an effort to get thank yous out same day or next day. A lot of people commented on it to my parents.
We had a few delays after we ran out of thank yous but nothing more than 2 weeks turnaround max.
You can wait, but unless the thank yous are spectacular I think people will notice how prompt you send them out more than the cards themselves. JMO.

Agreed with that. Thank you cards are traditionally supposed to be sent out pretty much as soon as you recieve a gift, even for birthdays etc. Even weddings the 'Real' etiquette expects you to be pretty prompt but with the new photo thank you cards that is becoming lax.

I personally like to get them out as soon as possible...I think its a nice touch, while the gift is still fresh in people's minds

I don't think you need anything fancy for an engagement party. If you go to a nice stationary store (There is one in downtown Port Jefferson Village) you can get beautiful Thank Yous.
