Thank You Cards Dilemma....Laid off from my job & Bridal Party not giving gifts

Well, We finally got our Thank You cards......Now it has been about 2 months since we got married & I was laid off from the company I worked for. My husband was not laid off & he is still working there (reluctantly, but we need the $$). Do I still send everyone, including the person who 'let me go' a thank you card. I am not going to see any of these people again, and I know some people were glad to see me leave. I am still very angry & upset!! I would love to write in the cards 'thanks for getting rid of me..A*holes!' but I would never write that. Any opinions??

In addition to this - we had a few people - including 3 people in the bridal party - not give us any gift or even a card for our wedding. My Husb said he would talk to them about it, but never did. I would love to say something to them. Should I even send them a card? ? HELP!!

i would still send the ppl who came without a gift a card... maybe they will send you a gift after they realize they never did? i'd just write something short like thanks for coming...

as for the ashole that let you go from your job, fcuk him! i wouldn't send him a thank you!

Unfortunately, you should still send them a card. Be the bigger person.

ETA: I'd still send the thank you card to the guy from work only because your husband still works there.

I think if they gave a gift you should still send a thank you card. It doesn't have to say anything mushy, just 'thank you for coming to our wedding and for your gift.' Since your husband still works there I wouldn;t want to cause any problems.

And for the people who were 'no gifters' I think a simple 'Thank you for sharing in our day. We hoped you enjoyed the wedding and were glad you could make it' would do just fine.

Even though 99% of people would never show up to a wedding without a gift, gifts aren't mandatory.

Your hubby still works there so you should send a card.. doesn't have to be very personal but do what the other girls said and be the bigger person

I say still send it. My motto is never let them see you sweat and this is especially in the work place. Even though you are upset and you have every right to feel hurt, this will show them that your over it and that your happy. It'll also protect your hubby who still works there. The best revenge is always for people to see how you live and if you are showing them your happy and don't care, the joke is on them.

Are you sure the bridal party isn't just giving you gifts later? Two of my bridesmaids haven't given me anything yet but will---I am positive of it but they are just lazy. So I'm not sending them a thank you card yet!

I sent one couple a thank you note that didn't give a gift but I think they didn't give a wedding gift because they gave an engagement gift that was worth more than most of our wedding gifts.

As for co-workers, I say you need to send cards anyways.

are the coworkers males? the reason i ask because i highly doubt they would miss/notice that they didnt get a card

so i wouldnt force you to send it

for the non-gifters, send a card thankin them for coming. but dont go on-and-on writing a personal note. something short and sweet. maybe they will get the reminder/hint to send something

sorry to hear about your job

I would send everyone who came to the wedding a thank you card even if they did not give you a gift and if you are never going to see them again.

I think you should still send them since your DH works there.
The girls in your BP might have been out a lot of money for dresses etc so to me it would mean a lot more that they stood up beside me at my wedding than to get a gift. JMO

I don't know how true this is, but my friend's mom was saying that according to old school wedding etiquette it's ok for guests to wait until up to a year after the wedding to give a gift.

Does that mean you have to wait a year until you kick their a$$

Thanks for all the advice. There are several people from work who were invited - my boss, 3 guys & 4 girls. It is just hard to be the bigger person right now Maybe in a week or two I will feel better about it & be able to send it.

My advice is to take the high road. The lay off has nothing to do with people taking time out and spending their time and money on you. It is hard, as I was laid off once after being at a place 10 years. I thought 'I would never see them again', but let me tell you, work worlds can collide years down the road. I have have seen old employers at my new office years later...I also got great recommendations over the years from these people. I was livid, and blue in the face, but 5 years from now, you may need a reference or they may enter your life in a weird way..Trust me..Don't burn bridges..Especially with your hubby still working for them... Just write thank you for sharing our day and if they gave a gift thank them.
As for the BP-I wouldn't mention their lack of gift. They were in your party, spent money on clothes and possibly other parties like showers and BP...Even if they didn't, they should be thanked for sharing your day. They could have stayed home. Don't sweat this stuff.. Good luck on your job search...That is so trying.
