Thank you cards: For gifts received before the wedding

Thank you cards: For gifts received before the wedding

We received two cash gifts this weekend from people who RSVPed no to the wedding (FHs side).

Today my FMIL called FH and told him that we HAVE to send them thank you cards before the wedding. FH agrees with her; I disagree.

I though thank you cards were sent after the wedding and that you had up to a year to send them out (I don't plan on waiting a year)

That was on my after the honeymoon to do lists. We don't even have thank you cards made yet! Our invites were such a headache that I do not want to get derailed sending out Thank you cards.

What do you guys think? Am I wrong?

I think its nice to do that
I tried to do that but for one person I waited until I did my professional thank yous so they would have a photo. - but if you can do it sooner than I would

I got a few gifts from my no's. I think that I'm going to definitely send a thank you now. I've actually put off cashing the checks before I send out the thank yous. I just don't feel right.

Thanks guys!

I am def. planning on sending thank yous to people who send gifts whether they come or not. I guess I thought it could wait until we made our thank you cards customized with a our pics.

Fh and fmil think it needs to be done this week.

As a compromise we will be sending out generic thank you cards to these folks and later follow up with one containg our pic.

I think you should just get them out of the way. Especially if you plan to cash them before the wedding. If you do them as them come in it'll be easy. Just go to Target or Hallmark and buy a pack of thank you cards. They don't have to be anything crazy fancy.

I def. would not wait until after the wedding to cash them though- it may feel like you are being rude, but I know that when I send out a check, it drives me NUTS when I constantly have to make sure there's X amount of money in the account when people take a long time to cash them. I actually prefer someone deposit it right awway so it's one less thing I have to stress about.

But, I think sending a generic card now, and then your one with the pic later sounds like a good plan and will make everyone happy. It's only 2, so it's not like you'll be writing 30 duplicate TY's.
