Thank you note question

I just got a shower gift in the mail from 3 people who can't attend my shower. Should I send separate thank you notes to each of them? They each live at separate addresses.

Also, should I send it now, or wait until after the shower? I didn't open the gift yet, but I know what it is because it says on the packing slip.

Etiquette says that 1 gift = 1 thank you card.

But, I had a couple group gifts. I sent a thank you to each of the givers...I didn't think it would be fair to pick 1 person

send one thank you to each of the three people and send it after your shower.

Yes I would send seperate invites. Also I would send them now. You're going to have so many to do after the shower. It's probably easier to get some done now.

I had a shower gift that 3 people chipped in for (at 3 different addresses). I sent them each a TY card.

I sent the TY cards out as I got gifts.

send each their own and send the thank you's now - you will be so overwhelmed with how many thank you's you will have to write once your shower actually comes and goes. Get as many out of the way as possible.

I would send each a card. I don't think it would matter if you wait for the shower or not. Either way it should be ok.

what ettiquite guide is telling you to send only 1 TY? I got a gift from 3 different couples and I didnt even think twice about sending each couple a TY.

The only reason I asked was because it was from a mom and two daughters. So I didn't know if I could write one thank you addressing the 3 of them, and send it to the mom. Or if I should write 3 separate ones. I would acknowledge everyone most definitely, I just didn't know which way was better.

I agree. 3 cards, send a thank you as soon as you can. Just nice to let them know it arrived okay.
