Thank You Notes for Gifts?

Just wanted to know if anyone sends out thank you's for their Christmas (holiday) gifts. I plan to for the parents who gave me gifts at school, but what about for fh's aunt/fmil, etc.?

Thoughts?

i think its a great idea for parents at ur school if ur ateacher:) and even out of town family who might have sent u gifts..but if u were given the gift in person from a family memeber i dont think its necessary JMO:)

I always send thank you notes to my students. I do not send them to family members or anyone that the gift is a mutual exchange. If I was not expecting the gift then yes I always send a card.

Speaking of which thanks for reminding me I have to get those cards written out so that I can address them when we get back to school!

i always send out thank you notes to family. my birthday is two weeks after xmas, so i wait until after that, so they are out by the end of january...but as far as a iknow of, i am the only one who sends them...go figure. my mom raised me to always write them and i do. in fact, i don't use a gift until a ty is written. a bit anal, eh?

I am the same way, I always send a TY note, even to my parents and inlaws...

Wow, you ladies have much better etiquette than I do!

For anyone I have seen in person over the holidays and have exchanged gifts with, I do not write thank yous. Meaning all my family members, my in laws, etc. I don't write thank yous to since I verbally thanked them when I saw them , and also gave them a gift.

All three of my bosses gave me gifts for the holidays, and I thanked them verbally. I dont send them thank you notes either, never have. Never thought i needed to !

Anyone who sent me something from out of town I would send a thank you note to. That goes for xmas and my birthday (which is NYE)
