If I get wedding presents sent to me before the wedding do I have to send thank you's to acknowledge it or can I wait until I send all the thank yous out after the wedding? Is it rude to deposit a wedding check a month before the wedding? I don't know what to do with these gifts

Re: Thank you question
I would send a Thank you right away. You want them to know you got their gift and appreciate it. I would deposit the check too. They probably gave you the check early for a reason. Plus depositing it right away may avoid checkbook balancing problems for them later. I hate when I write a check and people don't deposit it right away. Enjoy!

Re: Thank you question
I hope its not rude. We did that to help pay for the wedding. All the gifts we got the month or so beforehand we cashed to give us some extra cash for tips, etc. And we are waiting to send all the Thank you's out at once. I can't wait to hear what peoples responses will be on this one.!

Re: Thank you question
This is a good question. I just got our first monetary gift from a guest that is unable to attend. I have not sent the thank you yet. I am also interested in the responses to this question.

Re: Thank you question
I was married last August (and started receiving gifts from out-of-towners who couldn't make it here for the wedding by early June!)... We chose to wait to send their thank you's along with everyone else so that we could include our picture.
For some, we called to let them know that we received it and were very appreciative, and explained that we would of course follow up with a proper thank you after the wedding.
We didn't hear any complaints and everyone seemed to be more than understanding because they wanted our wedding picture that came with our thank you's.
