Thank You Question

Thank You Question

Ok so there was a couple that we received no gift from - no card - nothing. And we knew it wasnt a matter of affording it etc.

So DH decides to finally mention it to his Mom and she informs him that they usually send a gift (and there usually late with it).

So my question is - since we're working on Thank Yous - do i send them one to thank them for attending then if they send a gift - another TY for that. Or do i wait and see if they send a gift?

Is the point of a TY about the gift - or the attendance of the event

Thanks girls

Do i send them a wedding thank you? Then what if they send a gift - so i send them a different thank you card for that?

I would wait a little while to see if they send a gift. If not, Thank you for attending.

I would send them a thank you. It really shouldn't be about the gift. Just thank them for coming to celebrate the start of your new life together.

The only reason I realized that some people hadn't given a gift is when I recieved cards in the mail from them. I mean I guess I would have noticed when I did that thank yous, havent started them yet, but I really don't care if someone didn't give a gift.

Until DH asked his Mom - we assumed an envelope got lost or stolen and then we felt bad if we sent a TY for coming and to not acknowlege a gift if they sent one.

So would you send a 2nd thank you card if they wind up sending a gift later on?

I would send one know thanking them for coming. Maybe they forgot to send the card or something and it will help them remember...

and then if they do send something you can just a send a regular thank you for the gift. I just think it might create a weird situation if others get thank yous and they dont.

Thats what i was thinking if i waited to send one - then they might hear about someone else getting one.

Thanks
