thank you question

so if I get a gift before my wedding am I supposed to/allowed to write a thank you now or should I wait until after the wedding? I got my first gift but am not getting married until the first week of June

Send the thank you now. If you're doing photo thank yous after the wedding, you can send another one then.

I say the sooner the better, send it now so it is one less thank you to do later!

I send a thank you for a gift I get immediately after I get it for now. I think I'm going to do that up and until the week of the wedding.

I also think some of the gifts I'm getting are engagement gifts, and the people may plan to give a separate second gift, so I want to make sure they get properly thanked.

Plus I want to get a photo thank you later so I want to make sure everyone gets those, even the people who don't give me gifts just to thank them for coming.
