Thank you's question

Hey Girls!

My wedding isnt until july 2nd, but some people have started to send us gifts to my house. Some of these gifts are from people who can't make it to the weddings and others are from people who are coming. The gifts have all been money so when do I send the thank you? I won't get my actual thank you until weeks after the wedding. Is is rude to wait or should I just send a regular thank you card?

Also, Why do people mail an envelope if they are coming to the wedding?

Thanks ladies!

Not sure if its rude, but we have received some gifts too and are waiting until we have our picutre thank you cards to send a thankyou. Some people even made the check out to Mr and Mrs so i can't even sign it yet!

It is very strange that people havd mailed you a gift and card if they are going to the wedding...

Re: Thank you's question

I never really heard of people mailing a gift before the wedding if they are planning on attending, that is kinda strange. In any event, I would just wait until your actual thank you's come. Nobody expects them right away since I am sure they know it takes a few weeks to get them from the photographer........

You technically have until 1 yr after the wedding to send thank yous.

Re: Thank you's question

We received two gifts prior to the wedding. One was actually all of our towels from a couple who was coming to the wedding. I sent a little thank you note because we where so happy to have received them.
The other gift was a check from one of my dads cousins. She was initally coming to the wedding, then something came up with her grandkids & she couldn't make it anymore. I called to thank her.

Will be sending official wedding thank you to everyone we received a gift from.

I think you should send the thank yous out now, and do not wait until after the wedding. People like to know that you received the gift and i think its rude to cash the check and then not send the thank you until way later.

Maybe they are sending the gift to you now even though they are coming to the wedding b/c they are afraid it will get lost/stollen at the wedding? IDK

Re: Thank you's question

I've heard of cards being lost or forgotten at weddings. I think guests who are coming may be sending you the card/gift now (before the wedding) because they are afraid of it getting lost/forgotten the night of the wedding. Sometimes in the chaos of a big celebration, people may want to know that you have already safely received the gift. Or, perhaps they know how tight money is right before the wedding!
