My FH and I met in highschool. We each have a friend that had a very important part in us getting together. They are both coming to the wedding. I though it would be nice to thank them at the reception and maybe present them with a gift. WHat do you think? Cheesy???

Re: Thanking friends at reception?
My inclination is to say DO it. But make it short and sweet and dont over do it. Gathering from guests perspective sometiems all the dedication and presentations can be overkill. So if you are having say an anniversary dance and another special presentation..just give a gift privately but if not..DO IT DO IT!.

Do it! I will be doing something similar for the person who got me the job where we met. I think short and sweet is the key!

Re: Thanking friends at reception?
I would definitely do it!!! Esp since these friends are a big part of the reason you and Ray are together.. I think it would be a terrific touch to your special day
We only took 10 minutes out of our reception to do a dedication to 'honor' our parents, where we presented each Mom with a bouquet of flowers and I gave a speech to thank them for all the ways they helped us ..it was important to us and well worth the 10 minutes it took away from the festivities.
OK YES, by the end I was hysterical () but I don't regret it for a minute ... the time was well spent. Our parents were so happy, and everyone told me afterwards that it made the reception so personal and moving.

So if we do it, what should we give them? I was thinking about flowers for my friend, but what abour Rays friend? (a boy)?

Not at all cheesy. You are there celebrating your new family and if they played a part in creating that family, they are certainly worthy of being honored.

The guy that introduced my FH and I is FH's best man.. I hope that's honor enough... I think it's a sweet gesture to honor them.. but make sure they are comfortable being in the spotlight..
