Some of the photographers I met with asked me to contact them if I went with another vendor. I am going to hire a DOC, should I let them know I went with someone else, or is this just a photo thing? What should I say?

Re: thanks but no thanks?
The only time I let a vendor know I went with someone else is if they called me for a follow up. I never went out of my way to tell a vendor I met with that I wouldn't be using them if I decided not to.

The only time I did this with vendors was if at the appointment we made it seem like we would likely go with them so it was a courtesey to let them know that I would not be going with them.

Okay thanks, that was not a conversation I was looking forward to having! But what should I do about the vendors that specifically asked?

Honestly I think they say that so when you call they can try to match the price and get ur business back. If they really want to know, they'll call you.

No one asked me to do that so i didnt go out of my way to tell them... but if they asked me to id probably email them and let them know.

Re: thanks but no thanks?
The only reason I could see them asking this is if you showed interest in booking and they were tentatively holding your date for you. Therefore, if you went elsewhere they could free the date for others. But if this wasn't discussed then I don't think you need to call them back.

Re: thanks but no thanks?
I didn't call anyone. I had a bunch call me, even if I didn't meet with them. And some even asked who I booked with (which I obviously didn't tell them). The one place I did call was a hair girl because she put the date down in her planner so I needed to let her know.
