All I can tell you is from my past experience with people who ask for $$ like that is that if you give it to them once they will keep coming back to the well.

Besides lots of kids go to public school and do perfectly fine.

i agree with fran sorry you have to face this decision.

Although I am not a stepmom I dated and lived with someone for many years that had children from a previous marraige. Two of the children were his and one was not.

Money was always a big issue because we would do our best to provide for his two children but I could not let the other child suffer just because it was not biologically my ex's. We always gave money whenever the mother needed it because we had it and I do not like to see children do without if it can be helped.

The giving never ended though. Once you start giving the mother will expect you to bail her out many many times thereafter. It got very demanding for us but he raised the other child as his own for so many years and just because he wasn't with the mother anymore we couldn't finacially cut off the child. We wanted to make sure that all the children were treated equally and my ex did a pretty good job of that.

I don't know if this answered any of your concerns but just remember we can't help how adults act but we can help with the children. Good luck!! : )
