I go to Joseph Christopher Salon and Spa in Long Beach. I highly recommend it , at least for your first time, for several reasons:
1. The ladies there are very nice and do a good job without making it too painful and they get it done quickly
2. The rooms are spaceous, dimly lit with relaxing music playing and you are on a comfortable bed.
3. Its the only place that I was able to buy an anti-bacterial cream that you use after the shower to prevent ingrown hairs and help with redness/bumps. With the cream (and some baby powder also to help with itchiness) 2 days after its completely fine and smooth!
I hope that helps!! I'ts a little more expensive then other places I've been to, but I've had the best experience here, and for the area they are working in, I'd rather pay a bit more to feel comfortable!!! lol

i've only ever had a brazillian (i figure if your gonna do it might as well do it all the way) and you do have to remove everything from the waist down. its really not that bad and it goes by quick, without being overly TMI only certain regions that are more sensitive hurt real bad but if your relaxed it helps the rest is like ripping off a band-aid
i use Maximus in Merrick i use Maria she's the best in my opinion very gentle and she uses some type of french wax thats not as sticky.

DONT TRIM... the lady told me that if they feel its too much theyll trim it before applying the wax. The place I went to uses the brazilian wax with no strips.
Do you goto a gyno??.... not that it makes a difference but i kinda got in that mind frame when i got on the table LOL
