Re: thatched cottage

i am actually not sure about your bar question b/c i have seen the one downstairs that is used for the cocktail hour. wherever you go, there will be an 18% gratuity...that is the included tip for the waitresses and waiters...the 550 house charge is the tip for the bartender, the head chef, people like that. then you will need to add the maitre'd tip which is about 1 to 3 dollars per person. in all honesty, all of the places that i went to had the same charges so i don't think that they are anything out of the ordinary. i am so excited about getting married there. i think it will be beautiful and i have heard nothing but great things about it. the clincher for me is that there is a whole wall of windows that will let the light in...i didn't want a room that had no windows.

I am also getting married at the Thatched Cottage. I think the fees are reasonable. When we calculated the final costs (fees, taxes, and price pp) at several places, their prices were comparable. (We were comparing to Miller Place Inn, and a few others.) I am not sure about the bar only being downstairs -- we are using the room downstairs for our reception. So far everyone has been very helpful, and the food is awesome, too! Good luck.

Re: thatched cottage

that 550 covers the bartenders wage and the captains wage as well as tips for the bartender as they are not allowed to put a tip cup out.

Re: thatched cottage

Thatched Cottage does only one wedding at a time. At least I know I'm the only wedding and I'm pretty sure that's their practice. Only for parties they do more than one. Depending on the size of your party, that will depend the room you use. Either room has a bar, but the 3 people I know who have been to a wedding there said the wait staff was too fast, they never had to get their own drink.

Hi, the upstairs room has no bar. It is all table service. The bigger room has the bar in it. Also they told us only if we guarenteed 200 people we would be only party. Anything less they put another party, sweet 16, communion etc. They also are building another room off the lobby for parties with a fireplace in it.
