I have to say I went to the thatched cottage last night with my friend for her tasting. The place is so pretty, just not really my taste. Anyway, I went expecting no big deal. We were brought into a private room with a nice table set up, wine, drinks offered. The food came out and was absolutely amazing. Seriously not what I expected. I have been to a few tasting where I thought the food was great, but this place was so good. The owner/chef (dont know his name) sorry, was so nice he explained what each thing was and how it was freshly prepared. The main entree ( 1 of them, i think you get 8 at your wedding and like 30 passed hour de ourvs--sorry spelling!) was salmon wrapped in a flakey crust. We also tried a chicken dish that was yummy in my tummy! The whole salmon was wrapped and made into a fish shape with a tail. SOOO cute! If you have not checked this place out, you must. It is not flashy No marble but cute and quaint, right on the water! I was impressed! Not at all what I expected. Just wanted to give some feedback to anyone interested! And if your having your wedding there you have nothing to worry about!

Re: Thatched Cottage
As a former Thatched Cottage bride, its nice to read a positive review from an unbiased person, i.e., someone who isn't even having her wedding there.... I'm sure the future TC brides will appreciate you taking the time to write this!
The place , ambiance was definitely my taste.... as you said its more quaint and perhaps not as 'lavish' as some other halls on LI.. but I truly loved evertthing about it, the view of the water from the main room is breathtaking
AND as for the food, I could not agree more! I have been told by many many of my guests that the food was some of the best they'd EVER had at any wedding before... and let me tell you my very Italian family is soo very critical when it comes to food ! Even my Dad thought the food was exceptional, and he should know, becuse he is in the food industry and was a chef in Manhattan for many years
Good Luck to all the TC brides out there.. I wish you all as beautiful a day as I had (I wish I could do it again )

Re: Thatched Cottage
Thanks for the info. I've heard really good things about the food there. My sister and brother-in-law went there for a wedding and said it was great.
