Thatched Cottage

I posted in another Chat that FH and I booked Thatched Cottage. The only thing I know about it is that his parents got married there. Is there a Thatched Cottage Thread? Can anyone fill me in on any experience they have had there. The Good, Bad and Ugly.

THanks!

Re: Thatched Cottage

I went to a christening there two weeks ago and it was great. The room is beautiful, the scenery outstanding, great food, and wonderful service. The only negative thing I had to say is that the room was pretty cool so I would advise guests to have a wrap.

I visited TC when I was looking at halls. The big negative I had was that I did not like the indoor ceremony space. It's a personal taste, but just not my thing. Also I wasn't too crazy about the coordinator who I met with...

However, never been there for an actual event, so what do I know?

Re: Thatched Cottage

FH and I went there to screen it for our wedding. We were told that there was only one bride and groom at a time and led to believe that the wedding would be the only function occurring in the facility. On the way out, I questioned the woman about a smaller room off to the side and she told me that it is used for parties, but not weddings. I asked if these small parties could occur at the same time as a wedding and she reluctantly said yes. It wouldn't have been so bad if that info was shared freely, but I felt like she tried to mislead us and hide that info from us. It was like lying by omission....and that's not the kind of place I wanted to knowingly recite my vows in.

I'm getting married there.
It is beautiful, and the tasting was amazing.
They did tell me that there could be a small party going on in the smaller room, but that if there was, the people in that room would not have access to the grounds at all. The only time guests would see each other is in the bathroom. That was fine by me.
I'm also getting married on a Sunday night, so they told me that it would be a pretty slim possibility that the small room would be booked.
If you can, deal with ToniAnn. She is very nice, and I think is the most senior banquet manager.
Check out CuriousGeorge's review -- very thorough and positive!
