Thatched Cottage

Thinking about having my reception here at the Thatched Cottage. I loved the place but my only concern is there is not a bar in the dining room. There is one waiter per table who will take care of all drink orders. We were told by the manager that that they are very attentive to the guests in making sure their drinks are filled but I wanted to check with other brides who have been guests there or have had their wedding there to see what you guys thought. Help!!!! Or has anyone heard anything???

Re: Thatched Cottage

I do not recommend the Thatched Cottage. I had booked them & had to cancel due to issues they were having & the way they handled themselves with me. It wasn't any easy thing for me to do because I had my heart set on them. If you would like further details please forum mail me(I am not comfortable posting the whole story because I am still in $ conflicts with them).

We attended a wedding there. It was wonderful. the staff really was attentive to drink orders and meals. I think they offered us all seconds on the meals. The food was excellent and displayed so beautifully. After a while, the waitress remembered our drink order and refilled our drinks without even asking. Don't worry. Everything eill be great there.

Stavia,
I sent you a forum mail but that was my first time doing a forum mail so I may not have done it right I hope you got it. I am very anxious to hear you story as I am the worst decision maker of anyone I have ever known. So I need help! On another note, is Timber Point similar to Thatched?

I was a guest for wedding there in 9/01. The waiters were attentive. Never an empty glass and the food was great. The grounds were very nice too.

FH and I looked at the place on a recommendation..we did not like it, I guess it is a matter of what your style is. I was there when it was low-tide..it smelled horrible.

Re: Thatched Cottage

Balilove - OH MY GOD!!!! I was going to ask someone about that b/c I live on the bay and I KNOW how terrible that stench can be! But of course, the man who showed us the place told us that 'it's never low-tide here' b/c of some gate or wall that gets closed to keep the water at the same level. Ok, I admit I wasn't really paying attention when he explained this to me so now I will ask him to clarify. But obviously, that wasn't your case Do you remember what month that was?

Re: Thatched Cottage

Had our reception there in 10/02. I had a similar reservations about the lack of a bar. WE had 0 complaints about drink service, actually we had 2 waiters/servers for each table. Since this was definatly a 'drinking' wedding, if there we're any problems I definatly would have heard if there we're any problems.

I was a bridesmaid at a wedding there in May. I LOVEDD the placee. I was not a problem at all with the bar. It was actually nice to go to the bar outside the room because it gave you a little break from the room. If you didn't want to go out to get a drink there were waiters and waitresses all over to get your drink. I HIGHLY reccommend this place, It was the best wedding I have been too. The food was EXCELLENT and so was the service.
