My FH and I are trying to make our final selection for a venue this week! The Historical Thatched Cottage is still our #1 choice so far. We did the tasting and although the food was not to my liking (choice wise), I still thought it looked and tasted good.
Questions : What do you think of this venue if you have had your wedding here or will be having it there? AND were they willing to work with you on the price or throw in some EXTRAS????

Thatched Cottage Reviews and Flexibility?
I'm booked there and had an amazing tasting. There were 7 of us and we finished all the food and three bottles of champagne. They were definitely willing to work with us, and told us if we booked by a certain date we would get a mini VH thrown in (which we did)

This! I also got the mini VH thrown in. I looked at other venues and when I compared what we were getting and the price we were paying, I feel that Thatched Cottage was going above and beyond. I liked the fact that guests can have options to have more than one entree in case they change their mind and want to taste something else. There's a lot of food going around during cocktail hour. They included the sushi station for free during CH which I saw could cost up to an addition $10pp at other places. I thought tthere were also a lot of options for the main course. I believe the owner of Thatched Cottage is actually the chef so I'm sure he would be willing to work with you to create a custom dish. I think Maureen said they were actually looking to change up some of the menu in the near future.

Our wedding was at the TC in April. I've always believed them to be a hidden gem on the noth shore. They were extremely flexible and very generous with the options and stations. When we first saw everything we were shocked and absolutely thrilled with everything that they included. Also, even though you're reading descriptions of options on a piece of paper when you actually see what they do, you will be thrilled. The owner is the chef and I, too, believe that he'll work with you to give you an option that will make you happy.

I am a little disappointed that they are not willing to work with us on the extras other halls give out like free hotel room, served dessert, seat covers or sashes etc. and the ceremony there is almost double other places...im finding it hard to make a decision. I thought the other places would be more for the Thursday night wedding..but they are much less! I'm still hungup on having my wedding on the water though..

Well, you can't expect a free hotel room since they don't have a hotel attached to it. Our mini VH has served desserts (we didn't want a table on the dance floor so they are doing mini desserts served on trays). As for the seat covers and sashes, I feel like there are a lot of venues that don't throw those in. I'll be honest, I love Thatched Cottage and couldn't be happier - we looked at 10 venues, 8 of which were on the water, and it was not only the best price, but the best of everything for us.

I went to Thatched Cottage with my FH's daughter, she's getting married next year. I really hate to say this but, if I when there before I booked my venue, I would have booked Thatched Cottage.

She hasn't made a decision yet Pam.

Re: Thatched Cottage Reviews and Flexibility?
we almost booked there but the only problem we had is that they have no elevator since it's historic.we have a couple of guests that are handicapped and we would be getting married on site and if there was bad weather the upstairs chapel would have to be used..if it wasn't for that i believe we would have booked ..
