thatched cottage vs watermill vs westbury manor

need advice on a hall. we are torn between the thatched cottage, the watermill and the westbury manor.

the thatched cottage seems great because we will have the entire venue to our selves, and the watemill and the westbury manor grounds are very nice.

Has anyone had a wedding or been to a wedding at them recently and can give us some advice.

i looked at all and REALLY LIKED THEM ALL, here are my very honest opinions. We have had alot of drama here so i am not trying to upset anyone

Thatched cottage. I really liked it. The down falls were this... you are the only wedding, but may not be only party.. ie you can have a shower or conference etc in the other room. This may not be an issue, just something to think about. Also, one bathroom so if there IS another party, you share the b-room

Westbury Manor three dif rooms means three dif potential parties. The concern i had was the open bar, restaurant attached.

Watermill, best part is the outside grounds IMO... if the weather is bad, you miss out....

I'm biased obviously because I am a TC bride. I can tell you that the reason that I picked it was because we will be the only wedding there. As far as there being another party there at the same time, that CAN happen if you are a smaller event. However, it wasn't an issue for us since we have a min of 150 and it's a Saturday night. We already have confirmed with them that we are the only party that night.

i haven't seen the thatched cottage, but i really liked the watermill. I thought it was BEAUTIFUL and from what i've heard, the food is great!! Good luck!

I am partial to WM because that is where I am getting married but I had visited all 3. My advice is pick the place you like the most on the inside because if it rains or the weathers ehh you might lose the reason you picked the place. Also look on the bride review board. There should be reviews on all these places.

I am biased too lol .BUT just so you know if there DOES happen to be another affair going on ... they dont share the bathroom... from what I was told there is a bathroom for downstairs and a bathroom for the smaller room upstairs as well. Just thought I would let you know =)

i thought the downstairs bathroom was for the cocktail hour. The bathroom on the main floor is what the two other rooms share....could be wrong

They told me there is another bathroom in that smaller room upstairs too. Unless I was mis-informed... but I asked twice because I didnt want to make bathroom baskets and have another party use them.

I've only been to Wesbury Manor.
It was a great wedding. The food was GREAT!! The decor is nice and so are the grounds.

Since we are on the topic of bathrooms... they have a very nice bathroom... but it is shared by all! That means your wedding, and the restaurant, and any other weddings or events there use the same bathroom. it was a cute bathroom though... there were sinks inside the stalls I believe.
My MOH made a fit about sharing the bathroom though... haha! She was NOT a fan.

But again... the wedding I attended.. i really don't have too many complaints. The one bartender kept screwing up my drinks... so I started to walk across the room to the other bartender for drinks.

There is a bathroom in the smaller upstairs room. I think I peaked in all the bathrooms at TC!

I just wish they would update the main bathroom at the Thatched! But I guess if a place has to have a flaw, the bathroom should be it. Other than that, it's perfect!

I was actually torn as well between TC and westbury, I have been to watermill for a wedding and it was great We went with TC because we will have the place to ourselves also when we did the food tasting the food was amazing

My cousin had her wedding at Westbury Manor. It was perfect! The grounds are much nicer than The Watermill & Thached Cottage & I like the food better than the other places. My vote goes to Westbury Manor!

I've been to events at thatched cottage and the watermill.

The main thing I remember about thatched cottage was the the ceiling was slanty which imo isn't what I would pick. Although my meal (the salmon) was freaking AWESOME and probably one of the best meals I've EVER ate at a catering hall. It rained on my friends wedding day so we were stuck inside. The outside looked beautiful though.

The watermill is great but there are multiple parties going on there. I know that a few years ago (like... 8 yrs ago) imo the food was eh but the last time I had it (a few months) ago it was really really good. I like the room itself at the watermill better then thatched cottage. Although I looved the entrance at thatched.

I was never at an event at Westbury manor but I did look there for my own wedding. I wasn't a fan of having another wedding Right next door to mine and everyone using the same bathroom. I also had a concern about the resturant being open about 20 feet from my wedding. The grounds are amazing though.

I LOVE the Watermill and WM! They are both breathe taking. WM though, if the weather isn't good and you have to have the cocktail hour inside, it's 3 separate rooms.

Future Sister-In Law had her wedding at the Watermill and it was AWESOME!
