Hello! I can not figure out where to get married. The most important thing to me is good food. Based on your experience or what you have heard, which hall has the most outstanding food? (Besides Villa Lombardi's -too far for my family and besides Russo's - they require 200 guests on Sat night and I'm only inviting 150) Thanks! I need help!!!

Re: The Best Food
I know what you mean about being worried about the wedding food. Most weddings I've been to have been at midprice or even high end catering halls, and had awful food.... (one even gave 1/3 of the wedding food poisoning!-don't worry, that was 6 years ago and it is now under new management).
As you may suspect, I have the unfortunate reputation of having high standards with food.... That said, I was 'content' with the food at Danford's in port jeff. the dishes offered are not exotic, but they are pretty well done. The views and service didn't exactly hurt the food experience either....
While both waiter service and buffet is the same price at Danford's, we chose the buffet since then people aren't forced to eat those tired veggies and rice caterers always toss on plates as an afterthought... Instead, our guests will get to view and select exactly what they want. I think that will greatly enhance the food experience...
Since my tastes and yours may be very different, you should really taste things out on your own. Why not take your FH and surf the halls that have restaurants, and have dinner there before meeting with the catering dept.? That way, you get an idea of the food, the building, and the quality of the service....
After all, you need to know the place is right for you...
good luck and happy dining!

I would have suggested East Wind (because I am bias, hee hee) , but I'm guessing that is too far since Villa's is....have you checked out Chateau La Mer? It's in LIndenhurst and I believe a little more reasonably priced. My sister got married there last summer and a lot of LIW girls have had their recepetion there or are going to have their reception there. Not only is the food amazing, but you really do get great service. I hear that they've also renovated the place since last summer.
Good Luck in your search!

Re: The Best Food
I am a serious foodie! I was MOST interested in making certain the food would be up to par for our wedding. I too have been to many weddings where the food LOOKED pretty... but didn't necessarily make my palate sing.
After reading about HWC on these boards, I looked it up. The menu was outstanding... a sushi bar and herbed lollipop lambchops were served during cocktail hour and they were included in the regular price! I started asking around. Not many people had been there... but the ones who had could NOT STOP RAVING about the food. I went to see for myself and had some food at their restaurant. I booked the following week.
Is it the BEST food you can get for a wedding? I don't know for sure.. there are a LOT of good places out there with really good food! And there some restaurants that are REMARKABLE. But the price is good, the atmosphere is nice, the place is new, the grounds are gorgeous and the food was amazing!

I am bias as well but Lovin Oven caterers are amazing! They are at a few halls. Unfortunately they are only at the Vanderbilt through 07. But check them out. Their tasting was phenominal. 5 star resturant quality.

I see you have the same taste in food as I do. My favorites as far as food goes is Villa Lombardi's and Russo's. I was at a party at North Ritz Club and I have to say the food was great. As with all places it's what you order. I've been to 2 different weddings at the same hall and had two totally different experiences with the food. Also North Ritz has one wedding at a time which is nice.

If you are looking for food then i would DEF say to check out El Caribe (my hall) in Brooklyn. They do not have gounds outside BUT the inside is BEAUTIFUL and the food is amazing. I live by Russo's and we have had soooo many affairs there SO trust me i would not have my wedding at a place that wasn't just as nice or equally reliant in taste. Def worth looking at!!!! Good luck planning!!!!

Westbury Manor has delicious food! They serve you the same quality food whether you eat in their restaurant or at a big event or wedding. My DH and I picked them b/c we were the same as you..food was very important, especially after going to many weddings that were obviously $$$ but with crappy food! I also recommend maybe seeing if you can taste the food at a variety of places. WM told us after we booked to go there 'anonymously' for dinner and not let them know we are booked and we would get a full rebate if we didn't like the food. It was one of the best meals I've ever had ...2nd only to my wedding (b/c I got to eat all 7 dishes at my wedding!)

I second floral terrace!! The food is very good. I am also a lover of Lombardi's, Russo's and El Caribe. My sister is getting married there in 9 days and she had to guarrentee 200. Maybe you can have less people.

Re: The Best Food
The best 'wedding' food I've had was at North Ritz Club. The food at the Riviera was also very good. Lands End was awesome too but if Villa Lombardi's is too far, I'm going to assume Lands End is too far too.

Re: The Best Food
I think the Milleridge has great food. I'm still getting compliments from people on it - from the raw bar and appetizers and to the viennese and perfectly cooked surf and turf. I really think it's a hidden LI gem. Other than my wedding, I've only been to two other venues on LI and I thought the food at both places was terrible, and neither I have been listed as having great food on this thread.
