The Carltun - mini review

Hey Ladies...as promised here is a little review on my friends wedding this past weekend at the Carltun

The Carltun
Where do I begin...they were outstanding...our friends put on some wedding and they said that the staff at the Carltun accomadated them every which way possible...The CH was held both indoors and outdoors...the food selection was incredible (so I heard - I did not get to taste anything becuase FH & I were in the bridal party and were taking pictures during this time - and any food that was brought to the Bridal suite was devoured by the GM's ) My FMIL said they had so many different varities of appetizers she couldn't stop grabbing. The salad at the reception was delicious - pears marinated in a red burgandy sauce, with candied walnuts &raspberrys over mixed greens and a goat cheese pastry puff...I ate FH's as well . Instead of a pasta dish they served a mushroom risotto (which I did not have bc I was full from our salads + I was dancing my arse on the dance floor), there were three choices of entrees to choose from - FH & I had the Filet Mignon - we were both disapointed with it - as were the other people at our table who ordered it, the salmon and the chicken I heard were fabulous. I wish I could remember the name of the maitre 'd and the bridal attentdant - they were so fantastic - anything you needed they got...and fast too. Anyone gettng married here has NOTHING to worry about...

Florist - Murphy's
They are located in Locust Valley - They had a location in Bayside but recently closed it....BEAUTIFUL flowers...they had some tables with high cp's and some with low...I can't tell you how many people I overheard talking about the flowers throughout the reception...people were in awe of how beautiful they looked with the room...FH &I are going to meet with them...their work is incredible and original and Kevin the owner is a great person to work with (according to the Bride and Groom)

Limo's
Please FM for the name of the limo company they used...HUGH let down, very unprofessional and messed up big time...There was suppose to be a big limo truck that was to pick up the GM and then come get the BM's so that we could head over to Westbury Gardens to take pictures before the ceremony, one limo for the Bride and her MOH to take them to the Gardens and one more to take the parents of the Bride and Groom there as well. The big truck for the bridal party got a flat on the parkway - things happen we get it BUT after a half hour of not being able to fix the problem the limo company should be sending another car out - ESP since the Bride and Groom PAID for two hours to take pictures at a location...3:00 pm no truck and the air condition in the brides car was not working (by that time of the day the humidity was cranking) the bride was getting mad - she had all the grooms men pile into the limo that was to take the parents to the gardens, all the bm's piled into her NON-AIRCONDITIONED limo (two BM's had to ride with the photographer in his minivan bc there was no room - they at least had ac), neither limo driver knew how to get to the gardens much less out of whitestone - clueless - umm hello mapquest before you come It just gets worst from here...because of the limos holding us up for an hour and half, we only had use of the gardens for a half of an hour (they paid for two). The limo co said they were sending a new limo to replace the one w/o ac to the gardens...never happened instead they sent a suburban not sure what they thought that was going to do with a bridal party of 18...the GM piled into the non - ac limo, the BM's into the suburban, and some of us had to ride with the bride and groom in the limo with the ac...the parents were still at home waiting for a limo - when it showed up the driver was in a t-shirt and shorts...The best part was the drivers came up to the groom once they dropped us off at the hall and asked to get paid . The groom gave him $20 and told him 'nothing against you, but tell your boss he's not gettng paid from us...if he has a problem tell him to call me or to come on over...I'll give him something' FH turned to me at the hall and said 'we know whjich limo co were NOT using'
Photography - BM
Their photgrapher was Chris - so nice and funny. I can't really review this bc I have no proofs. BUT they were prodfessional, they laughed, they had fun with all of us, they made sure they were capturing every moment (photojournalistic)...their pictures are going to be beautiful...

Other Details...

Band -
I'm can't for the life of me remember the name of the band BUT they were amazing...the dance floor was packed the entire night...they mixed it up so that all the guests had a chance to enjoy some dancing...most of the songs I forgot were being sung live - thats how great they were.

Afterhours
Crazy, Sick...how else do I say it...It started at 1:30 am after the reception ended was held outdoors, they hired a DJ, there were tiki tourches and candles EVERYWHERE, there was a guy rollin cigars, a fondue station, a whole pig roasting, an iced vodka bar where they were pouring the vodka right off the ice into your glasses, more food, more champagne...I couldn't beleive it...it was unlike anything I have ever seen before...lets just say by the time after hours was over (3:00AM ) my feet were non-existent...

There was sooo much more but this 'mini' review is soo long already...I'll post some pics and if anyone has any questions FM...

grr...pics too big...have to resize them all

They were Amsale - color was camel...definately the most comfortable BM dress I have ever worn...I am definately going to get BM dresses for my wedding from this line...a little pricey but well worth it
