Has anyone else had to chase down their priest to meet about setting a church date & all the other stuff.
I called mine today for the 3rd time & the secretary keeps saying, Father ____ will call you back, but HE NEVER DOES.
I am freaking, how do I secure my date??

Re: The church....
Ha ha! That's so funny - I just got off the phone with a Deacon from my church who is coordinating all the details for the wedding. The priest that I want is in a different parish and I've called and left messages for him like 3 times but he hasn't called back! The Deacon said to keep trying, but the lady at the rectory isn't very nice . She's going to hate me!
The Deacon said he'd try to reach him too, but if all else fails, I'll have my mother hunt him down

I blame it all on the lady at the rectory.... the consenus is that she blocks alot of communication... hmm. I hope the deacon is nicer

Re: The church....
I don't think any of the women that work in rectories are nice!!! The Deacon told me to call our rectory to get the phone number for Maria Regina (where the priest that I'm trying to get a hold of is). So I did, and she's like, 'I'm not 411. Look it up in the yellow pages'. Grrrrrr!!!!

NEXT QUESTION>>>> how do I get the name or number of the deacon... it is not my church it is my FH's grandmother's church & she doesn't know.

Re: The church....
Either get it from the chucrhc bulletin that is distributed on Sundays or ask the rectory for his name and direct number.

Re: The church....
I had the same problem....I was calling my church for TWO MONTHS with no response. I taught CCD and I coached CYO Volleyball. I was so disappointed in them that I actually changed churches and I am very happy that I did. But I cried!

Re: The church....
The SAME thing happened to me! I cried too -- went to school there, parents have been active there for like 30 years. I called several times before I got the answer 'call back in a few months'.... um, excuse me, I'd like to book my reception hall (this was like a little more than a year before my wedding date..... they were acting like I was calling 5 years before).
Finally, I stopped one of the priest after Mass one Sunday, and explained the situation to him. He was all weird and kept asking is we were both Catholic and if we were ever married before. ***? Yes, we're Catholic and no, we've never been married -- what's the problem?
Anyway, he finally took care of it for us, and was very nice, but boy did it leave a sour taste in my mouth. (Another priest from my childhood who is now a theology professor will be marrying us.)
And yes, the rectory ladies who picked up the phone were BEYOND *****y. If someone in my workplace spoke on the phone like that they'd be FIRED!
