The Club or H on the Harbor? - advice needed

Hi Ladies,

My name is Jen, and my FH and I are planning an October wedding. We were supposed to be married in May, but I got sick earlier in the year, and had to postpone it.

So, now, here we are, 4 months away, and I still have not chosen a location. But, we think we have narrowed it down to two venues.

The Club at the Metropolitan, or H on the Harbor,. (we are planning on approx. 75 guest) We have visited both, but have not made a decision as of yet. Both of them have the date available, so we are in good shape there.

Any words of wisdom/reviews would be terrific, as I am so confused about both.

but its your wedding so you need to pick a venue that is more your style and the decor and feel for the place that you are looking for.

Which of the two do you feel like it might be the one when you walk in there, who is offering more, figure out the pro's and con's of each place

H on the Harbor is in Port Washington, on Main Street. We went to see it about 2 weeks ago, and I really love that it's small, but not too small, and right across the street from the LI Sound.

But, there is something so beautiful about The Club. We net with Eileen, and I wanted to arrange a tasting, as I am bringing my mom out there to see it. Is the food that good?

I am so confused...I really like the Club, and I like H on the Harbor. Now, I need to make a decision, and I need help.

I have never been inside Metropolitan - but heard great things about it

H on the Harbor is verrrrrrry pretty - I love it

i dont know about the food but there are girls who are booked at the metropolitan they can help you. I mean everyone says it is great but i cant speak from personal experience. Just wait until after the tasting, that should make your

hopefully girls can give you their opinions on this

but keep in mind that everyone has different taste so what one person is looking for in a RH another person would hate.

I am taking my mom there tomorrow, as she has never seen it. My FH and I were there 2 weeks ago, and I really loved it.

Are you doing sit down or a cocktail reception? I am just a little concerned about the food. I called in advance to see if while we are there, we could schedule a tasting. (I currently live in SI) and since we are driving out there, I wanted all of us to taste the food. I do not think that is going to happen.

We had planned to do a ceremony there too, as my rabbi will go anywhere. What about photos? Eileen mentioned that there is something a little ways away.

Anyway, any advice you could give me, would be terrific.

I have a few pics in an album, of the Met Club. I loved the vibe of the room! I really love how it's not a traditional catering hall &how it has a manhattan lounge feel to it.

We're having our ceremony there inside altho we did consider having it @ GCM, (we're having a wedding weekend & all events will be there , & everyone is staying there).

As far as the food goes... This was a huge concern of ours, and I was so happy when my FIL's who have an upper crust pallet (they eat @ all the 'better' restaurants,) were impresses with the food

Their house wine is a very nice selection and all their alcohol is premium

We met w/ Eileen too, she is a doll

* Did you know that the Met Club will provide your menus for you, and they also provide place cards..

BTW: They have tastings every few weeks, ask Eileen about them We had a private tasting back in Nov. but that was b/c my FIL'd travel so much that it was hard to get there when they have the one's scheduled.

Thank you for responding. My mom is concerned about the food, as she has not heard about The Club, or knew anyone who had an affair there, That is why I wanted to have a tasting, so all concerns would be alleviated.

However, we are going to both venues tomorrow, and the gentleman from H on the Harbor will not be there, but at least my mom can see the venue.

In my gut, I 'think' we will go with The Club. But, tomorrow is THE day to decide...I only have a little over 4 months to go.

Ohhh...I didn't know about that. Eileen didn't mention it to me. SInce I live in SI, and I am assuming (bad word I know) that they are during the week. (I could never make it out to the island during the week)

Maybe she will surprise me since there are 2 affairs tomorrow. Surely, there should be something there to taste?

We're having a sit down, & we've upgraded and added ton's to the basic menu, altho I thought it was unnessersary since the menu gives plenty. We're having a formal affair
