So I joined a new gym last week, and they weighed me in and measured body fat %, etc. My weight was 10 pounds more than at my wedding! I started freaking out, eating only yogurt, taking drastic measures, etc. We don't own a scale at home, so 2 days ago I went and bought one...The weight was 10 lbs. less than the gym weight! An hour later I weighed myself at the gym and it still measured the 10 lbs. heavier weight! So this is all a conspiracy by the gyms of America in order to make us THINK we are heavier than we are (my clothes weren't THAT tight, so I thought something was wrong!!!!)!

It's a week without Doritoes and McD's I will never be able to reclaim.

Maybe the gravitational pull is greater at the gym.
No really, I never weigh myself. I remember when I first started working out I gained weight, but looked much more toned. After that i just started judging my weight by looking at my body in the mirror and how my clothes fit if I am gaining/losing weight. I don't trust scales anywhere.

Ladies of LI unite and buy your own scales! That never even crossed my mind. WoW...I learned something new today. That ***** that they would do that! That's not right. Let's boycott gyms & dr.'s offices.

actually, from what i understand, the scales at gyms and doc's offices are correct if they have that slidey thing that balances out

They can be wrong if not calibrated recently.

Re: The conspiracy to make me think I am insane
It's definitely a conspiracy. In order to prevent the insanity I track 3 weights for myself:
my gym scale weight my home scale weight Dr's office weight
The gym scale is always the highest of the 3.
Also - time of day makes a big difference. My weight can fluctuate by up to 5lbs between morning and evening.
In the end, it's not the number that matters, just the difference from week to week. *trying to make myself believe that*
