The 'Dance with my Father Song'

I was thinking about picking this song by Luther Vandross for my wedding but it seems aas though he is relating it to death. How does everyone else interpret this? Any father/daughter song selections?

It sounds to me like the girl is wishing she could dance with her father one more time sine he passed away. Personally, I wouldn't use it. Just my opinion.

He is definately talking about his father's death. Have you listened to the song in its entirety it is such a sad song I was crying when I was listening to it.

Yeah it is a sad song. The mother crying, one more chance to see him.

I am thinking about butterfly kisses, but not the one on the radio. A country (but not country ho-down bunkin') version. I like it better than the 'played out' one

I am dancing to because you love me - by Celione Dion. I actually told my dad to pick something that he would like to dance to. He made a great choice

I also think the song sounds too much like a death. I too will most likely use the Celine Dion song.

I agree it is too much of a loss of a father song. It is beautiful, but would NOT have it.

i'm pretty sure it's talking about death - so i wouldn't choose it.
my dad actually chose butterfly kisses becuse he wants all of his friends to have a chance to see him cry!! he's an odd one, my dad!!!

I definitly agree with butterfly kisses or 'the way you look tonight'. I originally though the other song was great but after listening to the words, It definitly refers to death ... too sad!
