The daycare just called me...

Caiden's walking!!! I'm not sure how I feel? I feel sad and happy all at the same time. He's 11 months old. They said he's walking about 5 steps in each direction and sooooo proud of himself! I can't believe my DH and I missed it. My baby is not a baby anymore... he's a toddler now!

Awwh Melissa - I'm so sorry you missed it. That was nice of them to call you though. These are the reasons I hate being a full time working mommy. All these moments that will be lost

Good for Caiden though, what a big boy!! Go out and get those shoes Mamma!

Congratulations, mommy!

Regarding how you feel: do you think they shouldn't have called you and let you discover it on your own?

congrats!!! he is so cute!!

I was thinking the same, how does the daycare know that caiden did not take these steps last night? Daycares should just leave things as is...

First of all .... CONGRATS!!! He is such a big boy walking, now he really has his wings!

Second, and I hate to be a downer here... but what the????? They called you and told you he was walking? Nice they are all excited and all, but couldn't they contain their excitement and let you see Caidan take his 'first' precious steps tonight, at home, with his mom and dad??

I would be annoyed but I am sure you are thrilled and excited for your little boy nonetheless

I just think it's nice that they are keeping her updated throughout the day on how he is doing. I know alot of friends who have kids in daycare and the daycare doesn't even notify them if their children have been exposed to sick kids, etc.

Melissa, did they know he wasn't walking or did they call to say 'Hey, wow Caiden's walking??'. Maybe they didn't look on it like they were doing anything wrong - I'm sure they didn't mean any harm by telling you his news.

I s'pose it just seems strange to me. It would have been just as nice if when she picked him they were like... Mommy, Caidan has something to show you..... I mean poor Melissa is sitting at work, I would be heartbroken.

Where is Stacy? I wonder how her center handles those things?

RE: the sick kid thing, that is just wrong... you should get a quick run down of that kind of stuff when you pick up, etc....

Re: The daycare just called me...

I know when I worked in a daycare, we didn't tell the parents if the baby did something for the first time. I had this 1 little boy who was over 1 year and still not walking then 1 day he came walking over to me I was so surprised, I felt bad for mom and dad that they didn't see it first. The next day when I saw them they told me Nathan took his first steps so I acted surprised so it would not ruin it for them.

Congrats on Caiden walking!!!

Re: The daycare just called me...

Hello... Well, I am upset that I missed it. I wasn't sure if I wanted them to tell me the things he does or not, but in a way I'm glad they did, and in a way I wish they didn't. I have a very close relationship with his teachers and teachers to be when he moves up since I was going there for over 8 months nursing him at lunch time everyday. I got to know them really well. They were just excited to tell me. When I drop him off and pick him up I spend more then the usual time in his class with him. I talk to them and they talk to me as if we were good friends. So, I'm glad I have that relationship with them. It makes me more comfortable with leaving him there. I wish I was there with him though... it's definitely rough working FT. But, I feel bad for my DH since he pretty much misses most things since he works 2 jobs. I also talk to them during the day to see how and what he ate, and napped. I guess I'd rather them keep me informed when something happens whether I'm happy about it or not. But I do think it would of been nice if they waited and said that Caiden has something to show me. That would of been nice to see! But that's ok, they mean well!

I'm so glad you have such a great relationship with Caiden's teachers. It must be nice to have confidence in who is watching your child. I'm sure Daddy will be so proud!

Re: The daycare just called me...

I used to work in the infant room at a daycare and I would never tell a mother that. That is something that the mother should see on her own. When I saw things like that I would just get excited because I knew that night the parents would see it too.
