I was laying down in the bedroom and I hear someone banging on my door. (which is odd because you have to be buzzed in) So FI is at work the banging startled me. I yell who is it? and no one answers. I yell it again. No answer. FI has a wonderful sword collection so I grab his sword and started making my way to the front door yelling who is it. Then my bell rings. I hear commotion outside and I heard someone yell fire.
I look through the eye hole because I have always heard if their is a fire do not open the door. I dont smell anything or see anything but people in the hallway.I open the door a little and everyone is in the hall way clueless and 4 policeman and 2 FDNY are walking up the stairs.
I ask calmly to the officer while holding a 4 foot sword is everything alright. The cop was about to answer and when he saw little old me and my huge sword he shook his head and said everything is fine. I am sorry to have startled you, its safe. I asked their isnt a fire because I have 2 pets and its woman and pets first. He laughed and said their is no danger, no fire, its safe for you to return to your apartment.
Turns out the woman who lives across the hall had a small kitchen fire but she put it out and she burned herself. She was arguing with the police and the firemen that she didnt want to go to the hospital and they said well you have too. and off they went to the hospital.
Why does this commotion have to happen when FI is not home????

Thank god you are alright! I LOVE the way you narrate though Chippa! I was vividly picturing you with the sword, telling these cops 'woomen and pets first!' You certainly add comedy to the drama though! Maybe now you might get a nap in!

Re: The drama in my apartment building
I was finally able to get a nap in and just as I was getting comfortable uh another knock on the door. It was the old lady of the 4th floor looking for the old lady of the second floor who is the apartment below us. She had the wrong floor.
After she apologized I ran back into bed and finally got a nap in.
What a crazy Sunday afternoon.

You need a 'Napping!......Do not knock unless there is a real fire!!' sign for your door!!!!

ROFLMFAO!!!! OMG!!!! I am laughing so hard I have chest pains....
I should definatly put one of those up...I cant wait to tell FI when he gets home
The ironic part, about 4 years ago (2 months before I met Brian) there was a fire in his building. Scary part it was on the floor below him and he was away on vacation. He had a friend staying in his apartment. Thank god no one was hurt and his apartment was not affected. But knowing that their was a fire already in the building really scares me especially when he isnt home.

Re: The drama in my apartment building
When he came home last night I said to him 'Oh my heavens you missed all the drama today'
I then proceded to tell him and when I got to the part about the sword he said 'you had no problems carrying the sword' (its got some weight to it) I said 'no I used this sword (and showed him)'
I told him I felt like Xena warrior princess. I had the strength of a thousand men. He laughed at me.
When I told him which apartment it was he just said no surprise, they are not that bright in there (they are forever leaving a baby carriage, tricycle, anything in the middle of the hallway or in front of someone elses door and someone always walks into it, mostly me and they get mad if you move it)
He said well just remember if god for bid their is a fire, here is the ferrets carry bag you know where the food and treats are you better grab the ferrets and get the Hell out'
