ok, so i think i may have just found *the dress*, but i have a few questions--
it's a maggie sottero dress that ties in the back, and so the top in the size that i tried on actually fit perfect, and the bottom was just a tad too long
so i came home and started doing some research, and saw that they make it in a petite length-has anyone used this for their dresses? does it change the size, or just the length?
thanks!!

Re: the dress
i think its just the length. the bridal shop can order it in petite and have less to alter on he bottom

Re: the dress
ok because it really only needed about 3 inches off the bottom as far as alterations, and that would save a decent amount of money

Re: the dress
I just ordered my Maggie dress in petite (6in shorter for me!) The owner at Bridal Suite Centereach verified from the Maggie company that the dress is only shorter, it is not petite anywhere else but the length. Other designers shorten the whole torso.
There was a 10% additional fee for ordering petite but its well worth it not to need extreme alterations. I ordered Maggie's Eleganza and it has an intricate trim/train.
I recommend this!

if there is a 10% fee for ordering petite it may not be worth it....if only the length needs to be altered it might be cheaper then paying the extra 10%...you might want to do the math b4 ordering it.

Re: the dress
It is just length I have to get one also. I am 5'3'' and they said even with heals I should get a petite, bc to have a regular length taken up that much could mess with detailing on the bottom.

Re: the dress
I would probably go with the regular size and have it altered. It's 10%, which can be a lot, and what are the chances it'll be the exact right length? You might end up doing a hem anyway. AND, what if it's too short? You can always fix too long, but too short and you're screwed, Better safe than sorry. Plus if you get it hemmed you can use some of the fabric from the bottom to wrap bo-ks or whatever.
