'The Dress' Dilemma

Ok, I have a little dilemma. I have found 'The Dress' however, the bridal salon has not been open for too long. I think they have been in business no more than 8 months and I have been warned not to order the dress from a business that is not established. So, I took that into consideration and went shopping around to different salons with a picture of the gown. No one seems to have this gown. I have been to at least 10 different places and I am starting to think I will never find this gown anywhere else. Should I say forget it and order the gown from the salon? OR Should I start looking for a new gown? I am so confused. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If you've already tried on this dress at the new establishment and love the dress - I'm sure any other salon that carries that maker will order it for you to buy. I had found a dress in a magazine that I loved buy I had a very hard time finding a salon that carried it; however every salon offered to order the dress if I wanted to buy it (I didn't want to buy until I tried it on) You can also mention the name of the salon you've been dealing with on this site. If some people have had a good experience, maybe that will settle your nerves a bit! Good luck!

I had a similar problem like Fonzi. I had seen a picture in a magazine of a dress that I loved, but no one on the Island had it for me to try on. Several places made the offer to order the dress for me to buy, however I was really nervous about doing that, because what if it didn`t look good on me. Bridal Suite of Bay Shore was the only place that said if I didn`t like the dress, they would transfer my deposit over onto any other dress. Of course, the deposit would not be refundable. This made me feel comfortable. (For those who would order a dress they haven`t tried on, I definitely recommend doing this early .. considering how long gowns take to come in ... if you need to reorder something different, it will double the time). However, when I went in to have them place the order, I was talked into trying on a few gowns (by my matron-of-honor), and the very first one was 'The One.' If you know this is 'The One' for you, check around with more established companies and maybe they can order it for you .. just make sure you understand all their policies. How was your experience with this new shop? Where they very helpful? Maybe you could find out if they`re completely new to the bridal business, or maybe the owner just decided to branch out on their own rather than working for some other shop? Good Luck!

On Ultimatewedding.com there is a lot of advise on buying gowns from the Internet. You might want to consider the option. It can save you a ton of money plus you do not have to worry about dealing with a store that has not been in business very long. Just an idea.
