the dress search

the dress search

When searching for your dream gown, did you go for something that was very you or did you step outside yourself and go for something a little outside of your usual style?

I am so torn between two gowns. One is definitely ME, the other one is a little more glamorous. Its your wedding day so you want to be WOW but at the same time..I keep thinking I will carry myself better in something that reflects my styleeee

i tried on dresses that i knew i had always pictured myself in - thankfully they looked good on me if not i would have had to go for a different look

I wanted something that is ME, but a bit more. for example never pictured myself in a puffy dress, but my dress is a bit puffy (has pick ups).
couldnt picture myself in something different from who I am, was sure I would look ridiculous in that.
u should for something that u feel awesome in, dont think about me/not me.

I tried on lots of dresses, me, not me, would never be me but was having fun. In the end I found a dress that was perfect for ME! I would go with something that is very YOU since the big day is about you and FH.

mine is not very me! or so i thought until i tried it on! I think the lady helping me was the one that picked it out for me - i tried it on to be nice and wound up falling in love with it!!!

I thought my dress was a little mature and plainer than I wanted but I love how it fits me and so does everyone else!!

Do what you're comfortable with!!! I am personally SO uncomfortable in strapless gowns. I love the way they look, I just know that I'd be self conscious about it all night - that's just the way I am. Not only was my 'one' not strapless, but it is so perfectly wonderfully ME. Everyone who sees it says the same thing. IMO, if you're going to feel more confident in a dress that's 'you' - then you should go with that. Good luck!!!

I tried on a lot of dresses that I though 'fit' my wedding, but I didn't like any of them. The dress I ended up getting was very 'ME,' just the best version of myself. It's me at my best, not me pretending to be someone else.

I always imagined I'd wear a ballgown, and that's exactly what I got. But I did try on one mermaid style dress as well, to see if I'd like it, but it just wasn't for me. I want the princess look

I always imagined myself in a ballgown...and that's what I am going with but I was very torn between that one and a modern one that was also 'me'. I thought it was a better idea to go with a timeless look then a modern look IMO. I didn't want to look back at my pictures and think' omg I wore that?!?!'

Re: the dress search

I know I've written this a few times, but I knew the dress was for me because in the mirror, I could see ME and the dress altogether. I tried on an ultraglam one that looked great on me, but my eyes kept darting in the mirror from my body/dress to my face. I couldn't see ME in the dress, couldn't see it altogether at once in the mirror! Once I put on my dress, I saw all of me!

I was going for something beautiful..but me. However, I like a lot of styles...being petite and my frame...I couldn't pull off all styles I liked. I was in with the consultant when she recommended the dress I actually bought. I didn't see it and I instantly fell in love. I think once you put it on...if you are comfortable, and look the way you want...you're good. For me...I had to be able to dance and move around freely and of course...wanted the wow factor.

I was between one that was beautiful and va-va-voom and another one that's cute and the style is very ME. In the end, I chose the one that is represents me. I loved how the va-va-voom fitted me, it blew me away but I wanted something that reflected my personality. In the end, it's about how you feel when you have it on!

i actually tried a variety of styles. i always thought i would end up in a traditional ball gown but i ended up loving a more modern dress.
