The Dress-Where is the FIRST store you would look?

If you had to do it all over again--where would you look first to find a dress?

Re: The Dress-Where is the FIRST store you would look?

If I had to do it all over again, I can't say I would do things differently. I went to Davids Bridal because they had so many to try on in my size and diferent styles, I wanted to go there first, which I did, to get ideas and then look from there, but I fell in love with a dress there. I didn't buy it that day though, I did look around, but compared everything to that dress at Davids and it couldn't compare, it was just me! So I went back a few weeks later and bought it.

I also bought mine at Davids. I never thought I would buy there but I did. The first place I originally looked was Saymels (Thank God I didn't buy there )

Re: The Dress-Where is the FIRST store you would look?

I went to Davids first as well, and I definately recommend that unless you are fortunate enough to be sample size. David's has a huge selection in every size, unlike all other shops which just have one sample. So, going there was a great way to try on different styles to get an idea what it would look like when it fit me.

I ended up buying my dress at Priscilla of Boston, but going to Davids first was very helpful!

The first place I went to was Bonaventure in Garden City and tried on only 2 dresses. Then I went to Kleinfelds and that is where I bought my dress.

Re: The Dress-Where is the FIRST store you would look?

The only thing I would do different is NOT show my sister a dress I wanted b/c turns out it didnt look good on me, yet she insisted over and over again that it was THE dress, and she ****ed me off

Luckily I paid her no mind, and got the dress of my dreams at Commack Wedding Center

Re: The Dress-Where is the FIRST store you would look?

I would say go to Kleinfeld's in Brooklyn. It's a first class place - of course you pay first class prices - so it's not like you have to buy there. But they are all very well trained at what they do and give great ideas on what will look good on you and what styles you should focus on. Good luck! I loved dress shoppping - I'd love to do it all over again. I wound up getting my dress at Macy's Bridal.

Re: The Dress-Where is the FIRST store you would look?

I agree with Tracy. I'd skip when I went to that nightmare place Bridal Couture...and go straight there. The place is so pretty, soooo much to look at, every brides dream basically. And I loved the attention I got there.

Re: The Dress-Where is the FIRST store you would look?

The first place I would have gone to would have been RK BRIDAL in NYC. They had the biggest selection by far. I also liked how they had all of their dresses organized by designer.

Re: The Dress-Where is the FIRST store you would look?

I went to David's and wouldn't do it differently. I was able to try on about 15 dresses of all different styles (and not be bugged by a 'consultant') while I was doing it. I also heard good things about RK bridal, but David's was way more convenient. - Believe it or not, I actually bought my dress later on the same day, of the first day I went looking!

Re: The Dress-Where is the FIRST store you would look?

If I had to do it over again,I would do the same thing.I bought my dress at David's Bridal. I saw it in a magazine and just loved it. I tried it on and that was it.That was the dress. My mom made a bolero and my veil and it really made it 'MORE'beautiful.

Re: The Dress-Where is the FIRST store you would look?

Oh, were you asking for advice on where to go? duh...............
For a wide selection, I would suggest:
1. RK bridal
2. The Wedding Center in Commack

Re: The Dress-Where is the FIRST store you would look?

I'd suggest Lillette's in Baldwin. They have a decent size selection in a variety of price ranges. The staff is so helpful. They really have great suggestions and were very patient when I tried on so many dresses. They didn't make me feel pressured to buy a gown at all.

Re: The Dress-Where is the FIRST store you would look?

Another vote for RK Bridal, they have a HUGE selection, all styles, designers and price range.
It's where I went first and found my dress! First time out, too.

Re: The Dress-Where is the FIRST store you would look?

If I had to do it all over again...I would not bother will Bridal Reflections! There was a waste of 5 months and more headaches than a person needs about their wedding dress!

Re: The Dress-Where is the FIRST store you would look?

I got my dress from RK BRidal and I think they are great but I would suggest starting at Lillette's. They were really helpful and help you narrow down what looks good on you. I would have bought from them but I fell in love with a dress they didn't carry.
