The engineer came by & said we have termites in the garage...

But that its not a big deal because the homeowner will pay to have them exterminated before we move in .... Should I be worried?

Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Everyone in Long island has some sort of termite problem and if they tell you any differently they just dont know they have it yet.

Call a couple of different termite control people and see what they have to say I am sure they will tell you the same thing.

I honestly dont thin you can ever get RID of termites. The chemicals that they use now adays isnt strong enough to get rid rid of them. The stuff that they used to use would kill the termites and you too.

My parents have them in their house. They ate threw every stud in the wall in the dining room before we found out. Had every stud replace and their was no trace of them for a few years then they did construction on our bathroom adn where found in the walls there. Believe me you could eat off thefloors in my moms house it is so clean. I dont know why but they seem to come out as soon as the weather gets warm. They always happened to appear on Easter Sunday since it is always such a nice weather.

It is 90% standard that the seller pays the cost of termite repair and spraying b/c banks will not approve mortgages without termite treatment done. Make sure your lawyer writes into contract that they also repair the damage, not just pay for termite spray.

We had same problem and they paid for treatment and repair. VERY STANDARD and nothing to worry about.
