Okay, so I'm going away with a few of my girlfriends in a week to Las Vegas, and the FI is giving me a guilt trip - not a nasty one but a 'I'm going to miss you, I wish I can go, etc, etc, etc.' I feel terrible, but he couldn't go b/c of his work schedule (he's in Baseball, and duh, it's Baseball Season.)
Should I not have done this? I go away every single year w/my friends and then away with him, I didn't think it would change b/c we're engaged....what would you do?

go have your fun -in most solid relationships you will see the husband and wife each doing their own thing
it is good for him to miss you - i am going to Vegas in a few weeks with friends too - my FH understands and sees it as a time to hang out with the guys

I'm actually on the other end.. my FI is going away to Vegas in August with 18 of his closest friends.. and I'm staying home. But I'm ok with it, I could use some alone time!!!! Added bonus, my family will be away during the same time! Total relaxation!

i agree. its healthy in every relationship to do your own thing with the girls eveyr now and then, and of course he is going to miss you, but its healthy in a relationship.

You should definitely go! He will miss you, but I'm sure he gets time with the boys too. And absence makes the heart grow fonder!

Of course you should go!! It is healthy for him to miss you a little. I go to Florida 3-4 times a year to visit family, and FH and I find that being apart always spices things up a little!
Have fun in Vegas

It's sweet that he's gonna miss you and you're gonna miss him, but it's good for you. Def go and have a great time, just be sure not to gamble everything away! And make sure you bring him back some nice souvenirs so he knows you were thinking of him.

I'm going to Vegas next week with my sister and cousin to see Celine Dion. It's something I know DH wouldn't want to come with me to do. Yes, he's said the same things but I know he wouldn't be happy if I dragged him to Vegas to see Celine.
BTW: I went to Florida this past weekend with HIS sisters and left him. I felt more terrible than he did. I feel bad because that was the first time I was not sleeping with DH since I got married. You're not doing anything wrong.

Do what you want. My FH goes to Vegas with his Fantasy Football friends for their draft. He also has what he calls 'Guys Weekend' where he and a dozen of his friends rent a house upstate somewhere, drink, eat and fart. Do I stop him? No. I need my space too. You cannot be attached at the hip all the time.
I believe the reason why my parents are married so long (49 years) is because Dad did his thing and Mom did hers.
